Avignon, previously the hub of the Catholic realm, is presently a splendid urban scene, overseeing the Rhône River & Saint Bénezet Bridge, better known as the renowned Pont d’Avignon. Begin with a tour of the Palais followed by a trip to the exceptional fresh food market - Les Halles for experiencing the Provençal lifestyle before heading towards Châteauneuf du Pape, the wine territory; situated in a region rich with history, culture & uncontained mirth. A distinctive village where the remnants of the ruined château – walls, tower & lower hall constructed by the popes in the 14th century as a summer refuge to dodge the city’s scorching heat of Avignon. The initiation of the town’s first vineyards was by the popes. Later in the day, visit two distinct vineyards - firstly, a winemaker with an 8ha vineyard solely based on the appellation & secondly, a 43ha family-owned estate sustained by five generations of wine cultivators. Acquainting you with the emblematic wines established during the 1880’s where the tradition is magnified by modernism & perfection, accompanied by wine tasting as well.
