Highlights
  • Abadia de Montserrat - Montserrat is a rocky mountain located 50 km to the southwest of Barcelona. It is considered the most significant and important mountain of Catalonia. The etymology of Montserrat comes from Catalan Mont (mountain) and serrat (serrated). The mountain receives its name for its peculiar morphology. In 1987 Montserrat was declared a Natural Park to ensure its conservation. The highest peak is called Sant Jeroni (Saint Jerome) and stands at 1,236 meters above sea level.

Besides the main monastery of Santa María de Montserrat, there is a great number of small churches and chapels, some of them abandoned. The main monastery stands at 720 meters above sea level. Nowadays there is a community of 80 monks that live there and follow the rule of Saint Benedict.

When you arrive, you will enjoy an introduction to the history of the monastery.

Come enjoy Monserrat - The guide "Gloria Gaynor" and the driver were great. The tour is very enjoyable and Monserrat is a treasure but a single day is not enough to tour and enjoy it 💯.

Brilliant views and experience - We were a group of 7 - 1 kid, 1 teenager , parents, grand parents and a friend . We had an amazing time on the tour with Anna. She is a very knowledgeable guide. My mom has mobility issues but Anna helped us a lot. She made sure mom could go to the black madonna, with the help of priority access. A very good trip indeed

Was a very interesting... - Was a very interesting experience with breathtaking scenic views and a lot of historical information. Had a lot of time up on top of the mountain, but we had to stand in a long line to wait for our view of the black Madonna, so we were unable to take the additional cog rail up to the next level… wish we could have had a bit more time.
