Highlights
  • Bayeux - Our starting point next to the tourism office.
  • Omaha Beach - Stand on the sands where history was made and gain a profound understanding of the pivotal events that unfolded at Omaha Beach. On June 6, 1944, this iconic stretch of coastline became the battleground for one of the most consequential military operations in history: the D-Day invasion. As part of Operation Overlord, American troops stormed ashore under a hail of enemy fire, facing daunting obstacles and heavy casualties. Yet, their unwavering resolve and extraordinary bravery paved the way for the liberation of Europe. Today, Omaha Beach stands as a hallowed ground, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by thousands of Allied soldiers who fought and died here. With its pristine sands and serene waters juxtaposed against the haunting remnants of war, Omaha Beach offers visitors a solemn opportunity to reflect on the price of freedom and the enduring legacy of those who gave their all for it.
  • Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer - Perched atop the cliffs of Colleville-sur-Mer overlooking Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery stands as a solemn tribute to the courage and sacrifice of over 9,000 Allied soldiers who gave their lives during the Normandy Campaign of World War II. Established in 1944, this meticulously maintained cemetery provides a poignant reminder of the price of freedom. Its rows of white marble crosses and Stars of David offer a sobering sight, while the Memorial, inscribed with the names of over 1,500 missing soldiers, serves as a timeless symbol of honor and remembrance. Visiting this sacred ground is not only an opportunity to pay respects to the fallen but also to reflect on the profound impact of their bravery and commitment to liberty.
  • Ferme de la Sapiniere - Cider tasting is optional.
Indulge in a sensory journey at Ferme de la Sapiniere where centuries of cider-making tradition await. Nestled in the heart of Normandy, this historic cidrerie offers more than just delightful beverages; it’s a portal to the past. Founded in the 16th century, this cidrerie has stood witness to the region’s rich history, including the tales of Château de la Percée, a nearby castle that once hosted noble gatherings. Today, as you sample their exquisite ciders crafted from locally grown apples, you’re tasting the essence of Normandy’s heritage. Savor each sip amidst the rustic charm of the cidrerie, where the art of cider-making has been perfected over generations. It’s not just a tasting; it’s an immersion into the soul of Normandy.
  • Bayeux - As we pass through Bayeux on our return journey, catch a glimpse of its medieval charm, highlighted by the striking Bayeux Cathedral. Dating back to the 11th century, this Gothic masterpiece is a testament to the town’s rich history. Novel and Exhilarating. Respectful and Reflective. - Manuel was an excellent guide and driver: experienced, friendly, knowledgable, and a great sense of humor. Driving in the sidecar was exhilarating and novel. The Normandy tour of the beach and the cemetery was informative and done in a very respectful manner. Manuel’s time management was also excellent. Thank you for a most memorable experience.
