Highlights
  • Borgo Storico di Manarola - Free time in Manarola which is renowned for its dramatic cliffside location, with colorful houses perched on steep slopes overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Ligurian Sea. The stunning views of the village against the backdrop of the Mediterranean make it a photographer’s paradise.

  • Via dell’Amore - The name “Via dell’Amore” translates to the “Path of Love” in English, and the trail lives up to its romantic reputation. The path is lined with benches, love locks, and beautiful murals that add to its romantic ambiance.

  • Chiesa di San Lorenzo - Like much of Manarola, the Church of San Lorenzo benefits from a stunning coastal location. It offers breathtaking views of the village, the Ligurian Sea, and the surrounding cliffs, making it a popular spot for visitors to capture the beauty of Cinque Terre.

  • Santa Margherita di Antiochia Church - The church features a simple yet elegant architectural design typical of many Italian coastal churches. Its façade is characterized by a mix of white and black stone stripes, a common architectural feature in the region.

  • Castello Doria - The castle occupies a strategic position on a promontory overlooking the village and the Ligurian Sea. Its location allowed it to provide protection to the local population and control access to the harbor during times of threat.

  • Vernazza - Then you will move to Vernazza, a village overlooked by the remains of a Medieval castle with a cylindrical tower in which you can enjoy some free time.

  • Church of San Francesco - Capuchin Friars Monastery - If you wish to avoid the tourist places go up to this beautiful church that dominates the Cinque Terre and offers beautiful views.

Just be prepared to climb as it is pretty uphill.

  • Borgo Antico - Monterosso is unique among the Cinque Terre villages because it’s divided into two parts. The older, historic section, Monterosso Vecchio, is characterized by its ancient structures and fortified walls. The newer part, Monterosso al Mare, features more modern amenities and a lively beachfront promenade.
  • Spiaggia di Fegina - Enjoy some free time on the main beach in Monterosso. Fall in love with its crystalline water and weather permitting have a swim.
  • Il Gigante - Like the other villages in the Cinque Terre, Monterosso boasts a rich history that is reflected in its architecture. You can explore narrow medieval streets, ancient churches, and charming squares that transport you back in time.
  • Monumento a San Francesco d’Assisi - Located uphill close to a monastery you can admire a statue dedicated to San Francis of Assisi. This place will give you a unique panorama over the riviera. Just be prepared to climb some steps as the monument is uphill.
  • Oratorio della Confraternita dei Neri Mortis et Orationis - This Church is located in the historical center of Monterosso and has a beautiful baroque style facade
  • Portovenere - Free time. Portovenere, often referred to as the “sixth village” of the Cinque Terre, is a captivating coastal town located on the Italian Riviera. The Gulf of Poets, where Portovenere is situated, has long been a source of inspiration for poets and artists like Lord Byron
  • Le Scalinate - La Spezia - Here at the end of the day take our bus that will be waiting for you and go back to Florence

Cinque Tour was perfect! - Luca our guide was wonderful!! He was very clear on where to meet and what time. He gave us a few historical facts about each area we traveled to but he gave us all the freedom to roam around on our own to explore. This was a great tour, with absolutely stunning views. We met at the train station at 6:30am, had enough time to get some coffee and breakfast before we boarded the train. The train ride is about 2 hours. Once we got to our first stop we had an hour or so to shop, eat and explore. We hopped back on the train for our 2nd stop and had more time to explore and walk around the town. The 3rd stop we chose to go for a swim. There are dressing rooms where you can change (don’t forget a towel). After our time was up to meet back up with our group we took a ferry ride which was so beautiful and relaxing. This tour is 100% worth it!! Luca was so nice, funny, friendly, and informative. Tour was well thought out, smooth and no hiccups along the way!

Long day- enjoyment contingent on conscientiousness of guide - The tour guide was very conscientious in making sure we got the most out of the trip since there were delays caused by work on the train lines. He tried to make sure that everyone was comfortable and enjoying the experience. We only got to visit two of the five towns but that meant we had more time in each town so could relax and see a little more of each. It is a long day with an amount of walking. I decided to make it somewhat easier on myself (I was near the end of my vacation and growing tired) and take a cab from the last ferry to the train and the guide was very accommodating in making that happen.

Overall, I am glad we... - Overall, I am glad we visited. If we had more time to spend in each of the villages, we may have enjoyed it more. It was a fast paced-stop-and-visit, so while beautiful sceneries, it was a bit exhausting. Each of the Villages had a unique but similar feeling and the residents were most welcoming. I felt we saw some of the real Italians during this visit!

Beautiful towns, well worth a trip - We had a fantastic day trip in beautiful Cinque Terre. For me, there was plenty of time to enjoy each village that we saw, and climb up the trails for the best views. Free water is available in all of the towns as well if you look carefully. The food in the old part of Monterosso was particularly delicious. Be aware that it is easy to get separated from the group in the summer crowds, especially at La Spezia station. A minor thing that could help improve this tour would be some more direct instructions to help orient participants, such as exactly where to meet at the bus station, and the platform numbers and stop names if taking the train when the sea is too rough for the ferry.

Beautiful area but spoiled by overtourism - Cinque Terre is absolutely stunning. The perfect little idyllic getaway. Unfortunately it is a victim of way too much tourism. There was no way to enjoy the locale. People packed like sardines everywhere. Trains were overcrowded. Travelers yelling at each other. Poor restaurant service. The locals are doing the best they can but the charm of this place has been worn away. Luca, our guide, was great and worked very hard to navigate is through it all. In the end though, we were ready to go home hours before the bus actually came to take us back.

"Escort," not guide - I won't repeat what others said about how beautiful the villages were because others were already really detailed in their great descriptions. We only visited 4 out of the 5 towns and weren't even told this; we didn't realize it until the end. The villages were absolutely stunning and that made up for how disappointing our tour was. Our tour guide, Emma, was really nice but all she did was make sure we got on the right trains and boats, told us our meeting times and points, then let us off on our own. That's completely fine but we were hoping for a couple of historical facts about each town, or someone pointing us to monuments to go see. Something, anything. We also wouldn't recommend paying extra for the lunch. We spent 1.5 hours out of the 2 hours in Monterosso at the restaurant. The food was delicious but the service was extremely slow so we didn't even get to enjoy the beach. There are tons of other places to get food, which we didn't realize when we first booked this. We're just so sad because the other reviews seemed to have really knowledgeable and helpful guides. Overall, if you want someone to help you figure out the trains and boats and keep you on time to make sure you can visit (almost) all of the villages, this is a good tour to do that. Just have low expectations.
