Located in the Gandaki Province between the lake-filled city of Pokhara and the north Himalayas, the Ghorepani Ghandruk trek is named after two villages inhabited by the courageous Gurkhas in the well-known Annapurna region. These villages, filled predominantly with Gurung ethnic groups, are home to many who serve in the British and Indian Armies, thus earning the title ‘Gurkhas’.
As you traverse the gentle routes among verdant oak and rhododendron forest, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The glistening peaks of Annapurna (8,091 m) Massif and Dhaulagiri (8,0167 m) Massif are undeniable perks of this trek. Add the sights of Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Mt. Nilgiri, and Singa Chuli and you’ve got an unforgettable adventure in the Pokhara Valley.
You can kick off this trek by either flying or driving to Pokhara, following the Prithvi Highway which traces the borders of two significant rivers. The paved road escorts you along the shores of the Trishuli River and the Marsyangdi River, offering captivating views along the journey.
