Highlights
  • Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum - Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area.

Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot’s target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities.

The best experience in Japan - Naomi was a superb (moshi) host. She looked after us both so well we felt like a family friend was sharing their personal experience of Hiroshima, getting access to the best bits without the queues and doing it the local’s way. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough.

A very moving day in Hiroshima with Yuko Kajitani - We had a tour guided by Yuko Kajitani who was the perfect person to explain to us the atomic bomb tragedy, as she is from Hiroshima and shared her perspective. Yuko is a wonderful guide, knowledgeable, passionate and kind. Thank you for a very special day!

Excellent private tour of Hirishima - We only had 6 hours in Hiroshima as we were travelling from Osaka as a day trip via Shinkansen trains. Our private guide Michi had excellent English and her local knowledge was vast. She contacted us prior to the tour to customise it to our particular interests. Michi met us at the train station and was very welcoming. Our tour included many museums that are contained within buildings that had survived the atomic bomb in 1945. We also visited the Peace Park and its many memorials plus the Atomic Dome. Hiroshima today is s beautiful, thriving modern city with many rivers, bridges and European styled trams. Michi showed us some of this modern city with so much more to offer visitors than its tragic past. We would highly recommend this tour

Historical Hiroshima - Our tour of Hiroshima was fabulous. Yoshiko Horimasu was very knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating towards us. Due to a health problem, we needed to take public transportation instead of walking and she was happy to help us along the way and gave us frequent breaks. She always looked out for us. The tour it's was amazing- I've never had such an informative tour before. She had a great knowledge of the history of Hiroshima and of Japan. She was able to answer all of our questions and was very patient with us. I will never forget the time I had with Yoshiko-san.

Great tour of Hiroshima with our thoughtful guide, Masa! - My mom and I had a great tour with Masa! She not only showed us everything we had initially planned to see, but she also took us to extra sites like the atomic bomb hypocenter. She shared with us the moving story of Sadoko and gifted us with paper cranes she made herself. Especially considerate and focused on us enjoying our time, she even made a pit stop for me at the Pokémon Center. I highly recommend booking this tour!

Not what we expected - We booked this guide to learn more about the Japanese perspective with respect to the war and the end with the A-bomb. The guide only led us through the museum and pointed out points of interest, but hardly any stories or backgroud. Besides this her level of English was not so good which made communication difficult (she didn't really understand our questions). We passed some other guides on the way and their level of English wasn't any better. We feel like the subjectmatter is very sensitive and deserves better handeling. As a person our guide was very nice and helpful, but could not provide what we were looking for.
