Additional Information

Welcome to Yogyakarta through Wahyu Travel Indonesia. We provide tour services, leveraging English-speaking drivers, in Yogyakarta and nearby areas on the Island of Java. We specialise in tours to Yogyakarta featuring Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple, and Prambanan, the world’s most exquisite Hindu temple. Please note: Borobudur temple, closed for nearly three years at the close of 2019, is now open for ascending to the peak, but with a limited capacity of 150 persons per hour. Only fortunate individuals will receive a special ticket for climbing. It’s highly recommended to book your tour as early as possible. If you miss out on a Temple Structure ticket, you can still explore Borobudur temple by purchasing a Ground Temple ticket on-site. Particularly on Mondays, the main temples of Borobudur and Prambanan are closed, and visitors can only view the main temple from the grounds. Please ensure the accuracy of your WhatsApp number while booking the tour as it is vital for us.

  • Due to the limitation of special ticket for climbing Borobudur (Temple Structure) 150 persons per hour, I recommend you to book the tour as earlier as possible. After I receive the notification of your booking, I’ll immediately send you the special website for buying the special ticket for climbing Borobudur (Temple Structure). So, you will have enough time for buying the special ticket (Temple Structure) before it’s sold out.
  • Especially on Monday, people cannot access the main temple. People are allowed to see the main temple far away from the yard only.
  • There is only one website for buying the special ticket for climbing Borobudur (Temple Structure), it is the website I will send to you after I receive your booking.
  • I highly don’t recommend you to have a flight in the same day with the tour because for both temples it takes a full day tour, started in the morning from Yogyakarta city and finished in afternoon.

Amazing day. Thank you Wahyu! - We had a great day and Wahyu was amazing. We had great conversation throughout and he even helped us plan for our onward journey the next day. We visited both temples in great time and we're taken to an excellent lunch spot near to Prambanan. Wahyu is super knowledgeable and just a great guy. Thank you Wahyu!

Yogyakarta temples - We had a great trip with Handoko as our driver. The car was clean, modern and, most importantly, had a great airconditioning! Handoko was a very safe driver and we would recommend using this company for your tour!

A great temple - I think it's definitely a place worth seeing. I heard that it is not open to watch the sunrise now, so it opens at 8:30. Generally, you can enter at 8 o'clock. The summit quota is 150 people per hour, and 1,200 people per day. The main route is up to the east and down to the west. If you want to take pictures, there are very few people on the north and south sides. You can go around the first and ninth floors every day, and choose one in the middle for you to go around every day. Of the 504 Buddha statues in the entire temple, 200 have no heads. The first floor was actually added later to strengthen the overall building. There are reliefs starting from the second floor. The yellow part in the inner circle is the story of the Bodhisattva's life. The yellow is the paint that was applied by the Dutch for good photos when they colonized. The black part of the outer circle is the reincarnation of Bodhisattva, and the narrative sequence is a circle clockwise. After reaching the upper level, there are no reliefs, which means Nirvana. It is said that craftsmen dare not guess what is in Nirvana. Anyway, that is what the tour guide said. The base of the tower is square with the lower 5 floors, and the upper 3 floors are circular. This can only be seen when climbing up. Inside the upside-down lotus pods on the upper level are seated Bodhisattva statues. The higher the lotus pods, the more powerful they are. There are two with their lids missing and their heads exposed. Tourists cannot go up to the top floor, only monks can go up. Sometimes they sit in a circle and pray to the believers. The big top at the top is empty and said to have been stolen by the Dutch. The spire is a lightning rod. It has not been restored and we don’t know what the original building looked like. The entire Borobudur was built around the 8th century. In the 11th century, it was covered by volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Merapi for more than 800 years, so it was well preserved. In the 19th century, it was found by a Dutchman after the Anglo-Dutch Java War, and was slowly restored to its present state. look like. Standing on the ground, there are more than 100 Buddha statues looking down at you on every side. Who has seen this scene before? ? Very oppressive. Watch a procession of locals visiting the world's largest Buddhist temple during Eid. It feels like time travel.

You are in good hands with Wahyu!! - Wahyu is the man! Friendly guy who was always punctual, a really safe driver and even if not included in the reservation, he explained and supported us with the booking and organization of the attractions we wanted to see, he even adjusted his schedule to meet our needs. We booked one day the Prambaban plus the Ramayana Ballet with him, and on another day, also with him, we booked Borobudur with a visit to a traditional Indonesian village. He gave also really good recommendations yon where to eat. I highly recommend booking your tours with Wahyu, you are in good hands with him.

Great experience: Borobudur Temple & Village Tour with Wahyu - We had a great time with our guide Wahyu. He picked us up at around 7:30 to drive to Borobudur (make sure to book the „Structure“ ticket in advance). Afterwards, we visited a small village close to Borobudur and had the chance to explore the village life (tempeh production, traditional music playing, tea, etc.). We were so comfortable with our guide Wahyu that we booked three tours with him, I can only recommend :)

Good tour, top notch driver. - Not so much of a tour, but more of a transportation service with the booking of your own, private driver who will pick you up, take you to said places and drop you off at you hotel. Everything went smoothly, but would have wished for a shared tour option instead. My driver, Handoko, was nothing else but first class. Highly recommended!
