Join us on this half-day, privately guided journey through Kochi in a air-conditioned cab, accompanied by a local guide or driver/guide. Kochi, rich in spice history, has been a principal center of spice trade in India. It was this lavish culture of spices that lured many foreign traders. Kochi also lays claim to being the first place in colonial India where Europeans, beginning with the Portuguese (1500-1663), followed by the Dutch and then the British, set up colonies. The colonial influence is most evident in the old buildings here.
On this tour, you will explore the iconic landmarks of Kochi’s history, including the Chinese fishing nets, Vasco de Gama Church, Dutch cemetery, and moving on to the Dutch palace, which is currently an Archaeological Survey of India museum. The tour will also include a walk to the famed Jewish Synagogue, and a glimpse into the daily lives of those working in spice warehouses, laundry areas, and women’s cooperatives.
The tour includes your entry fees, as well as Hotel pick-up and drop-off.
