- Starting point of Marathon Route - The Athens Marathon is like no other on Earth. Staring line is in Marathon modern town and the finish line is in Athens’ magnificent Olympic Stadium, the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games.
- Marathon Lake - Lake Marathon is a water supply reservoir formed from the construction of Marathon Dam at the junction of Charadros and Varnavas Torrents near the town of Marathon. It was the primary water supply for Athens from 1931, when it became operational, until 1959. In 1959 water from Lake Yliki became available.
- Battlefield of Thermopylae - Thermopylae is world-famous for the battle that took place there between the Greek forces (notably the Spartans) and the invading Persian forces, commemorated by Simonides in the famous epitaph, “Go tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, That here obedient to their laws we lie. This passage from north to south along the east coast of Greek peninsula requires use of the pass and for this reason Thermopylae has been the site of several battles.

- Loutra Thermopilon - The baths of Thermopylae is known for the battle of Thermopylae between the Greeks and Persians in 480 b.C.The Hot Gates is “the place of hot springs” and in Greek mythology it is the cavernous entrances to Hades.
- Archaeological Museum of Thebes - Drive via Thebes and visit the Archaeological Museum. One of the most important museums of Greece since some of its collections are rare or unique. The exhibits originate from excavations all around Boeotia and cover a long chronological period spanning from the Palaeolithic to the Post Byzantine periods.

- Plataea - We visit the battle fields in Plataea and we travel back in time 479 BC. We see Gargathia spring, which was the place of the beginning of this Battle.
- Kithairon - Drive via Mount Cithaeron, Eleutherai, on the old Athens-Thebes National Road, north of the Villia junction, encompasses part of the lowland and rocky hill, where the ancient fortress, known as Gyftokastro, stands. Eleutherai was allegedly the birthplace of Dionysus, who founded the homonym city and was thus called Dionysus Eleuthereus. Originally a Boeotian city, Eleutherai went over to Athens in the sixth century BC. The cult statue of Dionysus Eleuthereus was reportedly moved from Eleutherai to Athens on Peisistratus’ orders, leading to the establishment of the homonym sanctuary on the south slope of the Acropolis. Strategically located on the borderline of the Athenian territory, with control over the narrow passage between Athens and Thebes and overlooking the plain of Oinoe, Eleutherai was part of the Athenian defense network in the fourth century BC. Next we pass by Elefsina (seaside) and follow the coastal road to Athens

Our journey begins with a handy pickup, moving onwards to the Marathon plains, grave, and museum. We then traverse the Marathon lake to reach Thermopylae. Here, explore the battlegrounds, Leonidas Memorial, Kolonos hill, hot springs, and museum. Our next stop is Thebes to visit a unique museum. We then move to nearby Plataea’s Acropolis, battlegrounds, and Kargathia Spring. We’ll drive through Mount Kithaeron, pass by Elefsina port, and take the coastal route back to Athens.
Keep in mind that this tour centers on visiting battlefields, museums, and scenic drives through mountainous terrain, with only a handful of ancient ruins to see.
