You will tour the High dam, Phiala temple, and the Unfinished Obelisk and enjoy a scenic sail on the Nile on an Egyptian Felucca. Your overnight stay will be at the 4-star Basma hotel.
Phiala temple
Constructed to pay tribute to the goddess Isis, this temple marked the last classical Egyptian architectural design. The construction started around 690 BC and was one of the final locations where the goddess was venerated.
-
The High Dam
The Aswan High Dam, a rock-fill dam, is positioned at the northern border of Egypt and Sudan. The dam is sustained by the River Nile and the reservoir forms Lake Nasser. The project’s construction kicked off in 1960, was completed by 1968, and officially opened in 1971.
-
The Unfinished Obelisk
Aswan supplied ancient Egypt with high-quality granite used to produce statues and decorate temples, pyramids, and obelisks. The large unfinished obelisk in the Northern Quarries has given valuable insight into the production of these monuments, even though we still don’t fully understand the entire process. Three sides of the shaft, nearly 42m long, were completed except for the inscriptions. Weighing 1168 tonnes, the finished obelisk would have been the heaviest single piece of stone the Egyptians ever crafted.
