Great day out - At first we thought it was expensive but when you see the infrastructure in place and the 3 experiences and the free shuttle from downtown it was well worth it. We really enjoyed our day

Capilano suspension bridge visit compared to Lynn Canyon visit - Pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our afternoon Capilano bridge experience particularly as I had read the reviews, looked at the cost, and had also visited Lynn Canyon suspension bridge the same morning Having thoroughly enjoyed the Lynn Canyon visit, it was with some misgivings that we entered the Capilano site as I was concerned over the comparison of experience over cost. Thankfully it was an excellent visit, and not a straight comparison with Lynn Canyon. Both have dramatic suspension bridges open to the public but the feel of each site is very different. In a nutshell, the Capilano bridge is a well organised, well thought out ‘forest experience’ which attracts coach tours and masses of visitors from Vancouver and beyond. It cost $74 adult and $69 senior for entry which is not cheap. Parking is close by and chargeable. Once in you have the equivalent of a forest theme park which could appeal to youngsters with lots to climb on and nooks and crannies to explore. Additionally there were numerous rangers giving bird, animal and insect displays which children would enjoy. The suspension bridge itself is long with good hand holds, but does ‘swing’ quite a bit so be prepared. The views are quite breathtaking. On the far side are numerous board walk trails, safe and secure but with quite a few steps. Also on this side is the high level tree top walk which gives a different view of the forest and canyon and is good fun to traverse. On the entrance side of the canyon is a cliff top walk which is a basically a gantry and long boardwalk skirting the side of the gorge which can feel a little vertiginous. Cafe and toilet facilities are available both sides of the bridge with a gift shop on the entrance side plus some interactive displays and information boards. In comparison Lynn Canyon is a much more basic forest experience which feels more rugged, more wild and definitely more natural. There is a visitors centre, cafe and toilets plus an ecology centre close to the parking. Parking is chargeable but entrance is free. The trails are well marked with boardwalks for the majority of the routes and these zig zag up and down through the gorge following the river. We did the suspension bridge (shorter than Capilano but still fun) to the twin falls loop which is under an hour but you feel like you could be in the depths of the wilderness at times. This was probably the biggest difference between the two sites: Lynn Canyon felt well managed but natural whilst the Capilano bridge felt more manicured and more ‘theme park’. That said we greatly enjoyed both. Tips to get the best, wear sensible shoes, check the weather and dress appropriately, and ideally go when it is dry so you can savour the forest rather than hurry through it. Be prepared to ascend and descend steps and stairs throughout. Would we revisit either? Lynn Canyon without hesitation (in fine weather). Probably not Capilano again solely because it was great, we enjoyed it but we do not need to spend large sums to get the nature buzz that Lynn Canyon offers.

Worth it - even with Tree Tops closed - We had a short stay in Vancouver pre-cruise and chose to go to Capilano. Stayed in North Vancouver so we didn’t get to take advantage of the free shuttle, but it was a short Uber ride. We spent about 1.5 hours and enjoyed it immensely. The raptor area was fascinating. The entire park is so well built into nature. The bridge and Cliff Walk were both thrilling and so unique. It was a bit rainy but that only added to the ‘strolling through nature’ feel. Great hot chocolate too.

Serene Morning Exploration at Capilano: Despite Crowds, a Safe and Enjoyable Experience - Opting for an early morning visit to Capilano to beat the crowds, we were surprised to find many others had the same idea. However, crossing the suspension bridge and exploring the cliff walk during quieter moments added to the serene experience. The routes felt secure, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. On the other side of the bridge, we had the opportunity to meet birds of prey and learn about them from their handler. Make sure to stop by. Unfortunately, the treetop walk was closed during our visit, but we appreciated the reduced ticket price as compensation.

Nice views, bit out of the way - A bit more physically challenging that the site lets on. It is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. It does take some effort and balance to cross the bridge, especially as it gets busy.
