Highlights
  • Damnoen Saduak Floating Market - Our first stop of the day will be the famous floating market Damnoen Saduak.
You will board a long-tail boat for a ride through the canals.

Morning hours see the river waters of this district packed with hundreds of vendors on small boats selling copious amounts of exotic, fresh fruits and vegetables, agricultural produce as well as authentic, local sweets, delicacies and souvenirs.

The Damnoen Saduak canal was ordered to be built in 1866 by King Rama IV to facilitate waterborne travels between Ratchaburi and Samut Sakhon provinces. It was finished and opened to the public in 1868.

Photos of this vibrant market featuring many small boats laden with colorful fruits and vegetables, are among the most often published in travel magazines and brochures of Thailand.

Additional Information

Explore Damnoen Saduak, the most popular floating market in Thailand, great for photo opportunities, food, and for giving an insight into a bygone way of life.

Then continue to Talad Rom Hoop, also known as ‘Train Umbrella Market’, for a unique market experience. The market literally sits on the railway track and every day customers and shopkeepers make way for the Bangkok-Maeklong train to pass.

With the ringing of a warning bell followed by an announcement in Thai over the loudspeaker, the vendors pull back their awnings within seconds. Amazing!

  • We visit an ancient temple during the tour. Remember that temples are sacred places and you must dress appropriately. Shoulders and knees need to be covered.
