Spectacular place - What a marvellous tour this is. Way better than we expected and highly recommend it. Our tour guide was Roger and he was wonderful. It’s very narrow, very bumpy and a long way up but truely spectacular. Well worth the money. We had snow too which made it better.

Amazing afternoon with local Darrel - The trip was amazing. Darrel knows so much about the area, he's funny and makes you feel comfortable. The views are stunning and you can see pictures of what part of the movie you are seeing at the time. Is great to have a local show you around. I will definitely recommend it!

Exciting trip, excellent sites, and lots of fun stories - We had a very entertaining and incredibly fun small group tour with Soap. A number of great stops that made for some wonderful photos. The multiple river crossings in the 4WD got us to some scenery that was wonderfully quiet and isolated. We really enjoyed hearing Soap’s background stories about his experience as an extra in the movies and the various people he met during that time. We wish we’d had time to also take one of the other itineraries Nomad offered, but maybe next time. Thank you for a very memorable day.

Amazing day out - Dont underestimate the traffic delays in Queenstown. We didn't allow sufficient time on a workday from Arrowtown to get to Queenstown for a 8.15am tour. So as a result we were 10 mins late to the tour. The team were amazing and sorted it so we could go in a different vehicle so the others weren't held up. Our driver Danny was amazing and since it was just our family and we had no interest in Lord of the Rings we said forget all that just show us the rest. We'll we had an absolute blast, Danny showed us around Arrowtown , Skippers Canon lots of 4wd through rivers loved it. Such a great tour highly recommend it. Well worth it for a great morning out. The views are spectacular

Joe - a Great Guide! - I was not expecting to see so many back road places and film scenes! The off roading through (not around) the river was fantastic AND a quick stop to view the OG bunjee jump spot where a woman jumped naked (highlight for the men, for sure)! A great experience, a great guide, and another great day in Queenstown!

Danny made this tour FANTASTIC! - Danny was the BEST tour guide ever! He is very knowledgeable about Lord of the Rings locations & scenes and is a spectacular driver! He is funny, patient, & relates well to everyone. He not only showed us the LOTR sites, Danny explained how the pictures were shot using trick photography & how the areas changed over time/seasons. His photo book was particularly helpful for our one family member who is not a Lords’ fan 😜 Driving in the river bed and up Skippers Canyon was SO MUCH FUN! And Danny kept us feeling safe the entire adventure. The vehicle was comfy despite the rocky terrain. Danny connected so enthusiastically well with our family, that we went bungy jumping & zip lining later that day & plan to play trivia at a local pub thanks to his recommendation!

Our favorite experience! - We’ve never been off-roading before and it was so fun!!! We loved our tour guide Adrian so much! He was funny, entertaining and very knowledgeable. We felt very safe with him driving us through all the different terrains. The views were stunning and the best way to explore the queenstown area! 10/10 recommend

Fans beware! Not a good tour - Our tour guides were nice people, but that is the extent of the positives. They took us to 3 places total, gave us wrong information that any fan (or person with eyes) would know, and we didn’t even go to all the sites mentioned on the tour description, claiming that no one knew the exact location but that we were driving through the forest where it was filmed. I know this was a lie as I went on a different tour who did know the locations. I was very disappointed! The guides weren’t even fans! They had only seen LotR years ago and hadn’t even seen The Hobbit yet! If you are a fan and want to see the filming locations, do NOT go with this group. There are other tours that are better.
