A great experience - We just got back from a wonderful morning with Ronald (son of Don Jorge). This is a family business with lots of wonderful information and a hands on experience. We ended up being there for 4 hours as we didn’t want to leave. It was a lovely small group of 5 and we got to taste the coffee and make our own chocolates. I loved learning about all the plants. A great experience.

Fantastic tour - This is an amazing tour of a family-owned chocolate and coffee farm, and we could not recommend it more. We loved the fresh organic pineapple and the chance to press our own sugar cane juice and make our own coffee and chocolates using fresh ingredients right from their farm. Absolutely an excellent experience. We did the self-led hike to the waterfall - a very fun hike, but definitely wear appropriate shoes!

Most Amazing Coffee & Chocolate Experience - This was one of the best experiences we had in La Fortuna. We were lucky enough to have a private tour and our guide, Fabricio, was amazing. He was so knowledgeable about not only coffee and chocolate, but the flora and fauna of Costa Rica. We had a lot of good laughs and the tastings of all the products grown on the farm were so amazing. We made our own chocolates and found some cool animals on our way to their waterfall. Would recommend to anyone visiting La Fortuna!

Best Chocolate and Coffee Tour in La Fortuna! - It was a very Informative and Engaging tour. This is a Family owned farm. Owner Martin (Don Jorge's son) showed us how sugarcane juice is extracted with a hand cranked machine and we got to taste it, different flavors of it. We got to learn about different fruits and spices including jack fruit, pineapple, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla. It was our first time seeing some of these plants. We got to learn how coffee is made and got to taste farm fresh coffee. Then we got to make our own chocolates. We also got to taste freshly made hot chocolate. We bought some chocolates from their store for gifts. They were cheaper than at the airport. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Also, it was nice meeting Martin's family. Our family loved the whole experience. We went on our last day at La Fortuna. This was a great end to our trip. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting La Fortuna.

Time well spent - It is a very informative and tasting tour of coffee, cocoa and sugarcane plantation. We booked this tour through our hotel at Monteverde so transportation was included both ways by the tour company in a comfortable AC minivan. The guide D (sorry forgot his full name) was very knowledgeable and explained how coffee and cocoa is grown/processed from their seeds respectively and made some treats with them. As part of sugarcane tour kids got a chance to crush the cane using the machine for juice and sample it. It is about 2 hours (excluding travel) tour, after the tour visitors get to taste their different kinds of coffee and hot chocolate that they produce. Also get to shop in their souvenir store. It was a good educational tour for all of us and thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend it.

Delicious, fun, and informative - This tour was amazing! We did a short walk to learn about the agriculture and the history of this farm. Then we processed sugar, coffee, and cocoa with many samples and drinks. We loved it! We were delighted to see Don Jorge himself sitting on the porch as we left. What a wonderful family.

Family-friendly cocoa and coffee tour with lots of treats to try - We spontaneously stopped at the coffee farm and asked for a tour. Martin immediately offered the three of us a private tour, which was very interesting and educational. He took a lot of time to tell us everything about organic cocoa cultivation, as well as about coffee and sugar cane and other plants in his extensive garden, such as vanilla, cinnamon, etc. Afterwards, together with him and his daughter Monica, we processed the sugar cane into juice and the cocoa into hot chocolate and pralines, and were allowed to eat all of the homemade delicacies fresh or take them home with us. We were also offered coffee made in different ways and we treated ourselves to a bottle of the delicious cocoa liqueur to take home. The atmosphere was very relaxed and informal, we felt very welcome and can warmly recommend the tour with "Don Jorge" to anyone traveling to Costa Rica.

Best coffee and chocolate tour - Absolutely the best chocolate tour. There are so many chocolate tours in this area of Costa Rica and I’m so glad we picked this one. Our family of 6 had a great time. The tour started with a walk through the property to learn about different fruits and spices including jack fruit, pineapples, vanilla and tumeric. Then we learned about sugar cane and the kids all got a turn running the sugar cane through the press to squeeze out the syrup. We sampled the syrup and then mixed it with ginger and tumeric and spiked it with contrabando. We also got to try the fruit around a cocoa bean. The final part of the tour was even more interactive. We learned about coffee from start to finish and sampled a cup. Then the kids ground up the dried and roasted cacao beans, added ingredients, made a paste and molded chocolates, one for each of us. We also sampled corn meal cakes. The waterfall was closed for swimming but the kids were able to wade near the bridge. This is family run tour on a property that has belonged to the same family for 5 generations. If we could leave more than 5 stars we would!

Worthwhile experience - Family-run plantation with many different plants, far beyond cocoa and coffee. Very educational. We were shown how sugar cane, coffee and cocoa are processed. We were also allowed to help with everything. Coffee was ground, boiled and eaten. We were also shown the journey of the cocoa bean from fruit to chocolate in practice. We were allowed to make and taste cocoa in all possible consistencies (from drink to chocolate). All this outside in nature in a family atmosphere. A really worthwhile experience for me. I initially thought the amount of $40 was excessive, but justified after the tour. The experience lasts at least two hours. The path through the plantation is not arduous and short. It is best to make a reservation or to check the tour times.
