Additional Information

Presided over by Mount Epomeo, Ischia is an exquisite island situated close to Capri. Frequently referred to as the green isle, it is significantly larger than Capri. As you embark on a comfortable coach tour across the island, you’ll be privy to all its stunning highlights. There will be an interval for lunch prior to arriving at the tropical La Mortella gardens. These gardens were the creation of the English composer Sir William Walton and his wife, who took up residence here beginning in 1949. Over 300 unique and exotic plant species adorn the gardens, complemented by intricate statues and cascading waterfalls. La Mortella is partitioned into two areas: a lower segment known as The Valley, and The Hill which is an elevated garden buttressed by terraces and retaining walls. Various zones within the garden are interconnected by an arrangement of walks, trails, ramps, and steps traversing dry walls that lead visitors to the summit of the hill. From here, one can feast their eyes on the spectacular panorama of the Bay of Forio.

For those who love plants and gardens - Entrance to the garden is €12 for adults, on foot or by taxi entry from the bottom, by car free parking at the top and entry from the top. Very beautiful, lots of incredible plants. Very interesting

GARDENS AND BARS - The gardens are spectacular, carefully maintained by the staff. The view is breathtaking. The time to visit is about two hours. We went in the morning around 10:30 and found few people and little heat; There is also a car park from which you can go down from point 20 to point 1 (in reverse). The bar halfway through the route is very suggestive: we had a juice, a glass of prosecco and a zingara sandwich and a slice of ricotta and pear cake... all excellent!! The plants and flowers present are wonderful and there is also the tree fern, one of the oldest plants in the world. I highly recommend having this experience, for those like me who hate insects I can guarantee that, although they are present, they are not particularly annoying.

Lovely island - The viewing point for lunch was out of this world… the mortella gardens were beautiful. It was a long walk from the port to the bus, which we were not aware of and one of the party had some mobility issues.
