Highlights
  • Senso-ji Temple - Sensō-ji is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. The colourful and popular temple features the Kaminarimon Gate (Thunder Gate) at the entrance. From this gate, locals and tourists walk along Nakamise-Dori, a historic street lined with souvenir shops until they reach the second gate, the Hozomon. Outside the main hall and pagoda of Tokyo’s oldest temple, there is a fountain for washing hands, small stalls selling charms and rows of drawers for visitors to read their fortune for the day.

The temple grounds offer ample photo opportunities around the trading hours of Nakamise-Dori when there are no crowds. If you decide to visit early in the morning, be wary of the shadows cast on some of the temple buildings from the surrounding skyscrapers. The main hall is open daily from 6am – 5pm, the temple grounds are always open and entrance is free.

Fun personal tour around Tokyo! - My husband and I had such an amazing time with Seizo Kamiuto as our guide around Tokyo. He was extremely knowledgeable about history, places and the best views in the city. The schedule was customizable if you wanted to see something specific but being our first time we went with the following popular sights: 1) Shibuya Scramble Crossing - we went in the morning which had less people than you would see at night time but still great to see how big the crosswalk is in person. Also, bonus got to take a picture with the Hachiko, the most loyal dog statue. 2) Meiji Shrine - we learned how to bow through the gate and how to pray in the shrine. It was a beautiful walk through the forest path where we got to see the sake barrels and wine barrels as well. 3) Imperial Palace - a beautiful location and extremely interesting, the palace is only open twice a year! 4) Sensoji Temple in Asakusa - extremely cute small shopping path to the temple! It was fun to see all the tourist dressed in kimonos. 5) Shinjuku Gyoen Garden- the cherry blossoms were not in season but the roses were and they were beyond beautiful! The park is huge but very kind of the emperor to give it to the public. I would definitely recommend the tour!

Wonderful City tour of Tokyo. Definately recommend! - We booked a 6 hr city tour of Tokyo and we had several planning emails with Sachi our guide before we arrived in Tokyo. She planned our day based on what we wanted to see and experience and explained how much cash we would need as well as which transit pass to purchase (Pasma). Unfortunately I had a medical issue on the morning of our tour and needed to see a Dr and pharmacist and Sachi was able to find a clinic and provide English translation for me. I was grateful she was with us to help us navigate the medical system and by Noon we were able to visit Asakusa temple and shrine and to shop for local souvenirs on Temple St. Sachi provided excellent tips on how to navigate the subway and train systems in Tokyo which was very helpful! We also had a quick visit to Meiju Jinju shrine before our tour ended and Sachi followed up with me the next day to make sure I was felling better. We had a great day with her and she was flexible and knowledgeable of the city history and the transit system. Her English is very good amd she has a lovely personality so we highly recommend Sachi for this tour. Thank you again Sachi for a really great day!

Good times in Tokyo with Hiro. - This tour was amazing, personal, and private. I loved it. Hiro is very knowledgeable on Japan and the Edo period. She is very considerate, professional, and caring. She made sure I was able to get good photos and also explained each site very well. I highly recommend her. She is one of the kindest people I ever met and for anyone wanting to tour with her you will be in good hands. She represents your company very well. Thank you so much Hiro. This was one of my best days in Japan.

Enjoying Tokyo on Foot - Our guide Yuko did a great job showing us places of interest we didn’t even know about. We enjoyed a Japanese sit down lunch and she navigated the metro which we really appreciated. The day was a fantastic experience. Thank you Yuko!

Tokyo Bucket List - Great day with our guide Bruce. He had great communication before my trip to Japan, and asked me everything I hoped to see. We accomplished everything, but one in one morning. He was delightful, knowledgeable, and I would love to have him be our guide again on any future tours

Great guide but very misleading tour name and description provided by tour operator - I booked the Tokyo 6hr Instagram Highlights Private Tour to get a lot of content for our social media sites during my short stay in Tokyo. I was very clear with the tour operators of what I required from the tour when I booked, especially in regard to getting a lot of high quality social media content. I have taken similar instagram tours in many countries and they have all been excellent, and have met or exceeded our expectations. This tour was advertised as follows - Shrines and Street Art. Classical and Eccentric Beauty. Pop culture and Traditions. All of these come together to make Tokyo a truly photogenic city. Grab your camera and check out the most Instagrammable places in Tokyo! I was allocated Shuji, a 72 year old guide for this instagram tour. He was a wonderful man with a deep understanding of the culture and history of Japan and he spoke fluent English, however not your typical guide for a “Instagram Tour”. We had a wonderful 6 hour walking tour of many of the main sites of Tokyo and Shuji explained in detail, the history of each site we visited. Shuji also found a terrific restaurant for us to have lunch as I wanted to try Okonomiyaki, Osaka style while in Tokyo. Although I really appreciated Shuji’s extensive knowledge during the tour, the company should definitely not call this an instagram tour. On every other instagram tour I have done the guide is very experienced with getting the best shots and video for social media. They know every photo worthy location on our itinerary and they always suggest the best photography angles and framing and will want to take photos of you when you are travelling alone or as a couple. Shuji happily obliged when I asked jinn to take a photo of me, however it was very apparent that he was not experienced in taking quality photos for social media. If you are looking for a true “Instagram Tour” I would not recommend in booking this tour as the tour operator has used a very misleading tour name and tour description. However if you want a very good walking and history tour of Tokyo, I would definitely recommend taking a tour and requesting Shuji as your guide.
