- Mondo’s Beach - You’ll want to prepare to drive 25-30 mintues south of Santa Barbara for the best possible surfing experience. You’ll meet your instructor at our surf van located at the beach where you’ll get suited up in a wetsuit, grab a long board, and walk to the sand for beach instruction. After some brief teaching on surf safety, etiquette, and technique we’ll rush into the ocean to catch you some waves! Your instructor will be coaching you and pushing you into waves to make the experience a memory that will last!\n\nOur lessons are private so you or your group will have their own instructor and personalized experience.\n\nThe majority of our lessons are for first timers which is why our lessons include: a surfboard, wetsuit, and 90 minutes of private instruction. Typically, lessons are taught at beaches with a sandy bottom and gentle waves just a few miles south of Santa Barbara. \n\nPlease note: You must know how to swim in order to surf with us. There is a high probability that you won’t have to swim during your lesson but as a safety precaution, we ask that everyone surfing with us knows how to swim.\n\nPlease note that gratuities are not included in the cost of the lesson.

The perfect surfing experience! - Recommend 100%. Tyler was absolutely fantastic. Taught my teenage kids all they needed to know. Tyler so kind, supportive, and fun. They had a blast and really learned how to surf. Mondo Beach location is perfect. A really great experience all around.

Mondos Surfing - Annalise was awesome! She provided a great lesson and kept me safe on the water. Instructions on how to read the water, pick waves, as well as the fundamentals of surfing. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Got the stoke from our surf lesson with Joshua - We had the best surf lesson with Joshua. Joshua made us all feel both safe and comfortable on the board. And, we all got up several times, so we got the stoke and will be back. Thanks Joshua for such an awesome day!

Great surf lesson! - Had an amazing surf lesson with Joshua! He helped us catch a bunch of waves and we had lots of fun. Beautiful beach as well, stunning views of the mountains as you’re surfing. Overall wonderful experience. Thank you Joshua!

Just right for a total novice - Tyler was a good instructor, stayed upbeat as I struggled, helped me gradually improve. After an hour, he ran back to the van to get me a better beginners board, which led to my best rides. I thought he was about perfect.

pvt surf lesson - we had a private surf lesson with Jack. He was great. Very patient. Good teacher. Each of us was able to get up and surf multiple waves, even though this was our first time. Would highly recommend.

Excellent surf lesson - I can't say enough good things about our surf lesson with Tyler from Santa Barbara Surf School! We met him at Mondo's beach in Ventura, got our wet suits on, had a brief lesson on land, and then spent the rest of the 1.5-hour class catching waves. My husband and I were a little apprehensive at first since this was our first time surfing but he did an excellent job of setting our mind at ease and ensuring we were successful. We both managed to stand up on our first try which was amazing and this set the tone for a really wonderful time. We would recommend Tyler and SB Surf School in a heartbeat!
