Highlights

Golden Circle

Thingvellir National Park - This is where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are drifting apart. Few places on Earth provide a clearer view of this significant geological activity. Thingvellir is also home to Iceland’s largest natural lake, which supports a diverse array of fish and bird species. Historically, Thingvellir is significant as the site where Icelanders established their parliament in 930 A.D., with chieftains gathering there every summer. The name “Thingvellir” translates to “Parliament Plains.”

Gullfoss Waterfall - The meltwater from Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier, cascades into a deep canyon, creating the stunning “Golden Falls.” On sunny days, you can see Langjökull in the distance and often spot a rainbow in the waterfall’s mist, making it a perfect Instagram moment.

Geysir - The Geysir geothermal area features hundreds of vibrant hot springs and two geysers. One, named “Geysir,” has lent its name to all geysers worldwide but now erupts infrequently. The other, “Strokkur,” erupts every 5 minutes, reaching heights of up to 40 meters.

South Coast

Seljalandsfoss - Our journey begins in Reykjavík with a comfortable minibus ride to the South Coast. The powerful Seljalandsfoss waterfall announces our arrival. Bring a raincoat for the short hike behind the falls, where the view and the ground’s tremor from the falling water create a perfect Instagram shot.

Skogafoss - Further east is the picturesque Skógafoss waterfall. Nestled in a gorge, the Skógá River plunges 60 meters before flowing towards the Atlantic. A staircase along the gorge offers stunning views from above the waterfall. Try counting the steps as you climb.

Skaftafell National Park - Here, we hike on an outlet glacier from Vatnajökull, one of Iceland’s largest glaciers. After meeting our expert glacier guides and gearing up with helmets, harnesses, crampons, and ice axes, we embark on a 90-minute ice hike. This is a unique chance to learn about these awe-inspiring and increasingly rare natural wonders. Skaftafell has been a filming location for popular TV shows and movies like Game of Thrones, Interstellar, and James Bond. Follow in the footsteps of your favorite characters on the glacier!

South East Iceland

Jokulsarlon - Day three starts with a tour of Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and a boat ride among the icebergs. This 200-meter-deep lagoon is fed by Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet glacier of Europe’s largest glacier. Massive icebergs break off from Breiðamerkurjökull year-round, filling the lagoon with floating ice. Enjoy a walk along the lagoon’s edge, taking in the stunning views and the serene silence of Icelandic nature.

Reynisfjara Beach - Before returning to Reykjavík, we visit the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. Here, the Atlantic waves crash against unique basalt columns in the cliffs. Rock pillars in the water and the cliffs of Dýrhólaey are visible in the distance. This area is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, with puffins and other unique species nesting on the cliffs from June to August.

10/10 Tour!! - We did the Golden Circle tour with Bjorn who was nothing short of excellent! He kept us well informed and entertained the entire trip with fun facts, and anecdotes en route to each stop. We even managed to squeeze in a few extra stops as everyone in our group was so good at time keeping! He was honestly such a joy and it was so refreshing being guided by someone who loves what they do! I would 100% recommend this tour to absolutely everyone!

What a fantastic tour!! - I was not sure what to do for a solo trip in Iceland. I received good recommendations for a tour of the Golden Circle. So I signed up for this one, ended up meeting some great people and a friend for life as well. The sites to see were amazing and the tour guide was awesome as well! If solo or with a group, I highly recommend this tour.

I have a bias against group tours--this one is the exception! Go do it! - I hate group tours as a general rule. But Iceland's infrastructure lends itself well to this format and Troll is at the top of their game. My guide, Axel, is a local Icelander who is exceptionally knowledgeable, energetic, thoughtful, and answers any questions you might have. One thing that is underrated about this place are the hotels in which you will be staying: they pick these secluded hotels that allow for a maximized chance at seeing the Northern Lights. We found no success there, but truly, Axel did such a great job of running the tour that it did not even matter (not that we should take it against the guides if the natural phenomenon does not occur at our convenience). For those of you like me who are wary of group tours, be assured that this place is an exception--they are fantastic.

Perfect from beginning to end! - It was perfect from beginning to end , we booked 3 day south coast tour with Troll and we truly enjoyed the experience , special thanks to our guide Iskien, he is so knowledgeable and has a deep understanding of the places. Every stop , restaurants , he gave meaningful advices and we really appreciate his patience into details . He did many things which beyond our expectations, he is so friendly ,articulate and flexible. We wouldn’t dream of coming back to Iceland without having him to guide us to more wonderful sights.

Great experience and value for the money - Great experience! We've been looking for a while for a "what to do" in Iceland and we came across this tour and I can say it was a great decision! You get to see loads of places during these 3 days, that will probably be more complicated to see on your own. Our guide Iskren was the best! He told us loads of informations about Iceland and these beautiful places that we've visited. He was even slowing down on the road to show us different highlights. During the 2 nights we stayed at the guesthouse, he kept us informed in case the northern lights will show up, but unfortunately we didn't see them. There were km away from us but the location of the Guesthouse is good for watching them so you may be lucky next time! At each stop you have enough time to take photos and walk around so you don't have worry about. Side note, Iskren was warming up the van more than enough to get a good sleep & his playlist goes perfectly with the scenery!

Iceland Travel - Very good. The tour guide is very responsible and the tour route is also reasonable. It is much easier than driving by yourself. The hotel is neat and comfortable, and the supporting catering is also delicious. Overall, it is highly recommended

Golden Circle, glacier lagoon and ice cave - We have joined a 3 day Golden Circle tour with Troll. It was a pack yet no-hurry journey. We could enjoy it at a pace leisurely enough to experience the majestic view yet rich and pack enough to visit all the ‘musts’, and plus a few extras. It was like the Goldilocks porridge - not too hot, not too cold, just right. Iceland is like heaven on earth, it’s beautiful yet dangerous. So safety and precautions are necessary. Our guide Iskren made good choices to cater for the situation, weather conditions in particular. However life’s never perfect: there’s one disappointment though. For the 2 nights we stayed at the south coast, we didn’t have the luck to see aurora light. But at least we didn’t have to stay up for the night. Our guide did that for us and would call us if there’s any spotting. There’s a story about this small guesthouse, the Hrifunes. Its previous owners were a couple, the wife a lover of cooking and the husband a professional photographer. Buy the book ‘Our land’ to read their story as well as the yummy recipes and the amazing photos. If you stay there, you could read the book in the room signed by the authors!
