Highlights

Moon Valley Tour

Valle De La Luna - 15:30 to 20:30: Tour to Valle de la Luna.
We will start the tour departing from the center of San Pedro de Atacama towards the Cordillera de la Sal in the Atacama Desert, the driest place on earth, in the direction of one of its most picturesque points: the Moon Valley. The names already give a clear clue to the landscape, where rock formations modeled by erosion, salt mantles and views that will make you feel like on another planet reign.

We will cross the valley transversely, visiting its famous rock formations: the Three Marias, the Canyon, the Amphitheater and the Coyote Stone. To finish the tour, we will enjoy the sunset from a natural viewpoint, where you can see how the desert changes color, with large volcanoes on the horizon, offering a show that will leave you speechless.

Incredible and surprising experience - Incredible experience, a surreal and beautiful place! Tour Guides were fundamental to the success of this trip, always very helpful and interested in our desires and also surprising us with places little explored by traditional tourism. I got to know some wine regions in Chile also through this agency as Maipo Valley, Colchagua, CuricĂ³ and Cachapoal. I recommend Guias Tours with my eyes closed and I'm thinking about returning to Chile soon to discover Patagonia with them as guides.

San Pedro de Atacama tour - Perfection! This is an accurate word to describe our experience in San Pedro de Atacama. All our tours were incredibly well organized and scheduled and no detail were left unattended. I planned this trip for a long time due to COVID restrictions but I’m so glad I chose such a fabulous tour company. I can’t wait to return and, without a doubt, plan with Guias Tours once again. Thanks so much Kata and Fernando! LUV!!

Great experience in Atacama - Well organised tour overall. The agency was super responsive and provided the full itinerary details and answered any questions. The tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful and made the tour enjoyable and informative. A small picnic was provided at each of the excursions was a really nice touch.

A good way to see the Atacama but you’ll be walking home - These 4 tours were an excellent way to get an overview of some fabulous sites around the Atacama Desert. Our guide to Valle de la Luna and Cejar Lagoon was Giulia. She was excellent at explaining the surrounding landscapes in both Spanish and Italian. Her manner was welcoming and she was most informative. Our guide to the Geysers of Tateo was Nicole. She was passionate about the special places of the high Andes and was brilliant at describing everything. The only issue with these tours is everybody is doing them and you are just another white bus and at some locations it seems like everyone is there which deflates the experience. Nicole did take us to the white Geyser and this was a personal and much appreciated experience. There also seems to be this thing about providing cocktail and snacks or breakfast on a little table by the bus. All the buses do it and I wonder why? Sometimes it is unnecessary and you actually would shorten the excursion time if this wasn’t included and that would be preferable especially on the Geyser day when we had to get the bus at 4am! The other issue I had was being collected from our hotel and then dumped in town at the conclusion of the excursion . This is probably fine if your hotel is in St Pedro but a bit of a rude awakening if you have a 20 minute night walk in darkness back to your hotel because you assumed you’d be taken home. So some tweaking about what is important to people taking the tours would be helpful

Good Value for Limited Visit to the Desert - All of our tours were really good and worth doing. We had a limited number of days in San Pedro and this made it a lot easier to decide what to do with our time. The drivers and guides for each were all very communicative, accommodating, and helpful. The tours are set-up for more photo taking opportunities than physical activity - we missed hiking/walking around the areas and were constantly in and out of the van. No complaints there but if you're planning, just to be aware, as we would've enjoyed more time in each location to walk and explore vs. take and wait for others to take photos.

Tours were great, booking agency was not - The 4 tours on this trip are booked with different tour operators by one booking agency when you buy this package. Our tours were PHENOMENAL, they exceeded our expectations and we enjoyed all of them. However, for our first tour, the operator came 30min early without any warning from the booking agency and left without us. When we called the agency, they moved us to another day, but they proceeded to tell me that it was our fault that we weren’t ready and they did not take responsibility or apologize for giving us the wrong scheduled time for the tour pickup. This was incredibly frustrating. For another one of our tours, the agency booked us on a tour with a tour guide that did not speak English (we indicated that we needed tours in English upon purchasing this package). I would not recommend booking with this agency, but rather directly with the tour companies when you arrive to Atacama for a better experience.

Great local guides, poor organization - would not recommend - Overall, we had a mixed experience. Firstly, we had great trips seeing the lagoon and swimming in it and visiting the geysers. In the latter trip, our guide was absolutely great being a scientifically educated enthusiast for all types of questions around geyser biology and geology. The tours were mostly on time and the guides made sure we had a good experience. Unfortunately, our trip to see the night sky could not take place on the set date which is why it was moved to the last night. Originally, our tours for the last day were scheduled to be finished by afternoon. Therefore, we had planned to go back to Calama in the afternoon. We had a hotel booked there and a flight scheduled early the next morning. Raising this issue to our dedicated tour contact, we received little support. Given that we did not have good internet, only mobile devices and little proficiency in Spanish, we struggled for hours to rearrange our travel plan. We ended up going to Calama by a private taxi which costs us ca. USD 100 instead of taking the much more affordable bus. Since we couldn’t cancel the hotel in Calama anymore, we paid a full stay while only spending 3-4 hours of sleeping time there. Overall, we understand that you cannot plan nature / the night sky. Nonetheless, we book a tour online (and pay a premium to the provider) so that we do not lose time planning while being on holiday. We had the feeling that our tour contact was annoyed by us needing to re-plan and by us asking for help. We lost time, lost a proper night of sleep and had extra costs which all did not seem to interest the provider at all. Therefore, we cannot recommend taking the tour.

Unprofessional - **This is not a review of the activities but the unprofessional service received** I booked the package starting December 24th and the itinerary clearly states Day 1 is at 15:30 (3:30 pm), only to be told that Valle de la Luna is closed that day. Instead of offering an alternative, they cancelled my booking while I was chatting with someone on their business WhatsApp. They also had a huge problem offering this in English because I called the tour operator about an airport transfer and the person I spoke with seemed to say "this is Chile so we speak Spanish". No arguments there, but you run a tour company aimed at internationals so it seemed probable you should have some basic English.
