Tour to Elia Mountain, Khornabuji and Mijniskure

Elia Mountain - Elia monastery is located in Kakheti, in the southern part of Dedoplistskaro, on double-peak limestone mountain. Temple of the Saint Ilia Tezbiteli is located on mount Elia from the sixth century. Many people gather here every August 2, on the day of the great prophet, Saint Ilia Tezbiteli. They overnight on a double-peaked mountain and pray at the bottom of the Elia rock.

Khornabuji - Khornabuji Castle also sometimes known as the Castle of Queen Tamara, is an ancient castle in the eastern part of Georgia. It is located approximately two miles / 3 kilometers north of Dedoplistsqaro in the region of Kakheti. The castle’s ruined remains are sited on the imposing Tsiv-Gombori Range. It was probably constructed, originally, at the end of the 1st millennium BC, at which time it was the only fortification controlling the valleys of the Iori and Alazani rivers. Archeology conducted during the 1970s in the area uncovered extensive evidence of the settlement that flourished in the flat land beneath the castle during and before the medieval period. The first surviving written records of it date back to the reign of Vakhtang the Wolf Head during the 5th century. At that time Khornabuji was one of the largest settlements in the Kakheti region.

Mijniskure - Kaslis kure is the bay of the peninsula on the Alazani River where the habitat for the natural nut has been preserved, as well as the only specimens of giant ash trees, oaks and elm trees. Kasliskure is a bay peninsula on the Alazani River. The width of the neck does not exceed 30-40 meters, while the area is more than 204 hectares. For today, there are entirely preserved groves that are very rich in flora. In Georgia, only in this bay, is the habitat for a natural nut, where the only specimens of giant ash, oaks and elms are preserved. Hence the origin of “Kaklis Kure”.

Tour to Vashlovani National Park,Bodbe Monastery and Signagi

Vashlovani National Park - Vashlovani National Park is a national park located in the eastern part of Georgia, and was established in 1935 to preserve its unique shallow forests. In April 2003 the Reserve’s area was expanded to 84.80 km² and Vashlovani National Park (251.14 km²) was made. The area is characterized by its dry climate sitting only 150-50 meters above sea level. Vashlovani State Reserve is notable for its unique, bad-land-like areas of desert and semi-desert steppe vegetation and arid and deciduous forests. It’s also home to the great cliffs-of-the-canyons, known in the area as the “Sharp Walls”, and the magnificent Alazani flood plains and forests.

Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino - The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe is a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex and the seat of the Bishops of Bodbe located 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi, Kakheti, Georgia. Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century. The monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there.

Signagi - Signagi is a town in Georgia’s easternmost region of Kakheti and the administrative center of the Signagi Municipality. Although it is one of Georgia’s smallest towns,Signagi serves as a popular tourist destination due to its location at the heart of Georgia’s wine-growing regions, as well as its picturesque landscapes, pastel houses and narrow, cobblestone streets. Located on a steep hill, Signagi overlooks the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible at a distance.

Unforgettable experience in Vashlovani - Excellent tour with Giorgi! We had a full-day package to Vashlovani National Park in which all highlights were thoroughly covered. We were picked up at our destination in Mtskheta and drove to the park, where all complicated paperwork was already arranged for us... from there we went on an adventure with a professional driver, for which I was very glad as the roads are quite challenging! Because a guide was available, we drove from highlight to highlight and were able to see almost everything worthwhile in the national park in just 1 day. As Vashlovani is too big to hike (without water sources), involves a lot of permits and is only accessible by 4x4 and fully prepared, I truly think booking a tour is the best way to explore this off-the-beaten-path destination in Georgia. Select Tour was a good choice.
