Karnak is not just a temple but a magnificent complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, and obelisks dedicated to the Theban gods and the glory of Egypt’s pharaohs. It was the most important site for worshipping the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonso). Afterward, drive to visit the Luxor Temple.
Luxor Temple - Following your visit to the Karnak Temples, you’ll explore the Luxor Temple, largely built by the New Kingdom Pharaoh Amenhotep III of the 18th dynasty and completed by King Tutankhamun and the great King Ramses II. The first pylon was erected by Ramses II and is adorned with scenes from his military Battle of Kadesh. Dinner on board, followed by a folkloric show. Overnight in Luxor.
Hot Air Balloon Ride & Luxor West Bank Visit
Luxor hot air balloon - Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up for an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over the west bank of Luxor. Enjoy an aerial view of the city’s landscape and famous landmarks, including the great temples and mountains below. The ride lasts between 40 to 55 minutes. Breakfast box included.
Colossi of Memnon - After the balloon ride, you’ll stop for photos at the Colossi of Memnon, two grand twin statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, with two smaller statues at their feet representing his wife and mother. Each statue stands 60 feet tall at the entrance of Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple. They are known as the Colossi of Memnon due to a sound phenomenon produced by one of the statues after an earthquake. Originally built in the Theban Necropolis on the west bank of the Nile in modern Luxor, these colossal statues are a must-see.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Visit the temple of Queen Hatshepsut and learn about her fascinating story with her nephew. The temple rises out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merges with the limestone cliffs of the Theban Mountain, creating an extraordinary monument. Then, drive to the Valley of the Kings.
Valley of the Kings - Arrive at the Valley of the Kings, known as the Great Place of Truth. This majestic valley is the final resting place of pharaohs who were laid in great stone sarcophagi, awaiting immortality. Explore the tombs and resting places of notable Egyptian kings such as Merneptah, Ramesses III, and Ramesses VI. Return to the cruise and prepare for the afternoon navigation to Edfu city through Esna Lock. Enjoy lunch on board, relax on the sundeck, and admire the beautiful scenery of the Nile River while having afternoon tea. Cross Esna Lock and have dinner on board. Overnight in Edfu City.
Visit Edfu Temple & Kom Ombo Temple
Temple of Horus - After breakfast on board, visit the Edfu temple, the best-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to the hawk-god Horus. The construction of the Ptolemaic temple of Horus, founded on the site of an earlier temple, dates back to the period between the reigns of Ptolemy III (237 B.C.). The walls depict the myth of the contention between Horus and Seth, likely performed annually as a religious drama. Return to the cruise, relax on the sundeck, and enjoy the unique landscape and beautiful scenery of the Nile River while sailing to Kom Ombo City. Lunch on board and afternoon tea on the sundeck.
Temple of Kom Ombo - Sail for about 5 hours to Kom Ombo City while enjoying tea time on the sundeck. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, located 45 km north of Aswan. The temple was dedicated to the god Sobek Ra, the crocodile god, and the god Horus the Elder. Built in 180 B.C. by the Ptolemaic dynasty during the Roman invasion, the temple’s unique location on the riverbank between Edfu and Aswan makes it a wonderful stop for Nile cruises.
