How much did I love my trip to Iceland? Let me count the ways: - How much did I love my trip to Iceland? Let me count the ways: 1. A friend and I took the 8-Day Summer Ring Route of Iceland trip with Troll early June 2024. Our fearless and awesome leader was Thor Thorsteinsson, a native Icelander going back almost a thousand years who was outstandingly assisted by Karen in the back-office. The weather started getting rough (unexpected winter storm hit Iceland just after the tour commenced) with road closures, insane wind storms (drove by flipped over camper vans) and white-out foggy conditions BUT Thor and Karen modified the itinerary to keep us moving and hitting our scheduled events as much as humanly possible (and most of all, safely). 2. Despite the less-then-ideal weather (yes, wore long underwear, hiking pants and rain pants virtually every day), we didn’t have much rain and who needs sun anyway (except at 1 am when it always seemed to shine brightly – bring some clips to close those curtains). We did it all – whale-watching (humpback entertained us by jumping and flipping its fluke for us), saw some puffins (few than we wanted to see but c’est la vie), rode (and possibly ate) a little horse, soaked in hot springs, hiked a glacier, an ice cave and a lava cave and lived to tell the tales. 3. The mini-bus was great – only 9 people with 20 seats, strong wi-fi and charging ports at every seat. 4. Met some of the greatest travel companions ever! Each person was on time for the many departures each day from the various stops and we genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. A couple of artists in the group and some amazing photographers – yes, I shall steal (I mean borrow) the pictures and videos we’ll be sharing. 5. Thor would give us options for dinner (sometimes, the group chose to eat together at a restaurant, other times we broke off into smaller groups, depending on where each wanted to eat). Usually there were fancier (relatively speaking, everyone was wearing their hiking gear everywhere) and less-fancy options and he knew when we needed to pre-book a table so as not to be turned away. I found the food to be delicious! Tons of fish (char, cod, langoustines) and lamb! Breakfast was included at the guest houses and was hearty and a great start to each day. Some people had said prices were high but if you come from a big city, I found them pretty reasonable (and portions were large and shareable). Booze was big city pricey but not crazy. 6. Did I mention how awesome Thor was? Not only was he able to share his knowledge about Iceland and each stop we made, but he told us stories about his ancestors, just adding to our appreciation of the land of fire and ice (yes, the volcano was erupting while we were there but that didn’t impact our trip and next time, I’ll try to take a helicopter tour of it). We saw/walked on the ice. 7. The water is so pure and ice cold – be sure to bring your water bottle – plenty of stops to refill it. 8. Already trying to figure out when to return (and totally understand the people who’ve gone back multiple times). Easy flight to Reykjavik and easy to do it as a stopover on a flight to Europe. Next up: Northern Lights! 9. Thank you Thor, Karen & Troll for such a memorable trip! And the Gray Line bus driver who circled back to pick us up for our return to KEF when we were a few minutes late because I mis-read the pickup time – oops.

One of my best experience. The best tour guide in the world! - The tour went perfectly despite of extreme weather condition and road closure. Big credits to backstage support Karen and especially the amazing tour guide Thor Thorsteinsson to make sure we completed the tour in a safe and fun manner. Thor was not only a professional tour guide, but an enthusiastic host sharing information and stories, to make sure we have the best experience in Iceland. He is the best tour guide and this is the best tour ever!

Amazing round-the-island trip. Definitely recommend it and our awesome tour guide Thor - It is a fantastic family trip and our tour guide Thor Thorsteinsson is amazing (best ever guide I would say!) with a lovely group of peers to travel with. We have encountered extreme weather with road closure, but the thoughtful reschedule/arrangements are so considerate and we made all of the must-sees. Would definitely recommend this tour group and our awesome tour guide.

Awesome experience - It was an incredible experience being my first visit to Iceland. It was hassle-free, hop on the bus and enjoy your time! Jon, our guide, was nice and friendly. Always patient in addressing any concerns we have. It is not easy to be the only one awake driving long distances, so hats off for the hard work. The accommodations were all nice, clean and comfortable. Early May was the shoulder season, which was great, since there were less crowds and the weather was pleasant! We hit all the major attractions and would definitely recommend joining the extra activities as well. Like all tours, time is a constraint as you may want to stay longer or explore further at certain locations. However, this tour is the best option if you prefer hassle-free travel.

Great Company!! - This is a revised review of the one I already did of our 10 day self driving tour. I just want everyone to know what a wonderful company this Iceland Tours is!!!! For some reason I got a ticket at the Glacier Lagoon unbeknown to me? Our friends though this same company in a separate car parked right next to my friend and I and they never got a ticket! Have been fighting back and forth with Hertz for almost all week as to why?? Anyway, Iceland Tours stepped in and with all the trouble I have been having with Hertz, they decided to go ahead and pay for our so called ticket. Wow, I thought! How nice of them!! They are also giving us back some Euros that went towards our total trip due to all the problems I have been having and let us use that money to go have lunch. Totally unexpected and so very, very nice of them!! Careful where you park in Iceland, you might get a ticket!! Careful with Hertz also!!

Fantastic and exciting trip, gave me the experience never expected. Great. - We joined Troll Expedition’s 8 days Winter Ring Route of Iceland group tour on March 2024. Highly recommend this small group tour which treat you more personal. Such a fantastic, exceptional and exciting experiences throughout this trip. Thales is an excellent tour guide! He is knowledgeable, considerate and humorous. He do an extra by helping us to book the helicopter volcano tour (Highly Recommending both Thales and Helicopter volcano tour). Rafat (Rafael) - staff of Glacier View Guest House also great, who gave us a warm welcome and comfortable hospitality.

Iceland in the Winter. - Our tour guide, Johann, shared his love for Iceland and led us to love his country, as well. I am so glad I went and toured Iceland during the Winter, and I prefer warm weather over cold, but you have to see Iceland during the cold. You just can’t imagine the beauty of snow and ice until you see Iceland. Johann helped with our quest for the Northern Lights, even with sending us text messages through the night. The people of Iceland are so sweet and welcoming. The food and accommodations were fantastic. But Johann had a unique way to pull his entire group together, making our experience exceptional. I miss Iceland, and feel so blessed to have experienced Iceland and its people. Now I need to see Iceland when it’s green!

Trip of a lifetime - This trip was amazing, we saw so many of the popular places (waterfalls, glaciers, lagoons, hot springs, volcanos) around Iceland but also some of the less well known places. All of the hotels we stayed in were up to a good standard, some of the more remote ones were a little smaller or less nice but had great views to compensate. Our guide, Thor, was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable about Iceland and a funny and down to earth guy. He led us around the island and showed us places we definitely would have missed if we just planned it and went round ourselves. It was clear he was passionate about Iceland which helped us appreciate everything more as well. He was able to recommend us places to eat every night which were all superb and also what we could do after we got back and had an extra day in Reykjavik. He was also very considerate for one of the members of our party who gets travel sick easily. All in all, it was a very special trip, made better by our excellent guide.
