In the morning, we’ll collect you from your hotel and journey to Abu Simbel, where we’ll explore the renowned temples of King Ramses II and his queen, Nefertari. These astonishing temples are carved out of solid rock and are situated along the Nile River. These structures are a part of the ‘Nubian Monuments,’ a UNESCO World Heritage site that extends from Abu Simbel to Phil, close to Aswan. Uniquely, the ancient Egyptian architects positioned the temple axis for the sun’s rays to illuminate the sanctuary’s sculptures, excluding the statue of Ptah, the god linked with the Underworld, on October 22nd and February 22nd. This statue is purposely kept in the dark. We’ll then make our way back to Aswan around 1 PM.
