Additional Information

The majority of temples in Upper Egypt were established during the Ptolemaic period. Yet, Seti I ruled around 3300 years ago, not long after Tutankhamun. He was the Nineteenth Dynasty’s second pharaoh during the New Kingdom era and fathered Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great. Despite his brief reign of 11 to 13 years, his temple was unfinished, and it was his son, Ramses II, who completed it in his honor.

Dorothy Louise Eady, also recognized as Umm Sety, served as the custodian of the Temple of Seti I at Abydos until her passing in 1981.
