Highlights
  • National Museum of Ghana - It is the largest and oldest of the six museums under the administration of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board opened on 5th March 1957 by Duchess of Kent, Princess Marina. ..Objects in the archeology section range from the Stone Age period to the recent historical past. Those on permanent exhibition at the ethnography gallery include chief’s regalia, indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, gold weights, beads, traditional textiles, stools and pottery. There are also objects from other African countries acquired through exchange. Examples are Senufo masks from Ivory Coast, Zulu wooden figures and bead-ware from Southern Africa. In addition there are also ancient Ife bronze heads from Nigeria and Bushongo carvings from the Congo. Exhibits at the small but impressive art gallery consist mainly of contemporary Ghanaian paintings executed in oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolours and collages. A day in Accra - We had an amazing time with Clinton. He went over and above to make sure that we had a great time. Our trip was on a Sunday, and one of our stops was closed, but Clinton was quick to improvise with an amazing alternative. Would recommend this tour to anyone looking to get to know about Ghana with a local.

Full packed day - Great day out, very informative and friendly. Clinton and driver were very engaging and helped with our bartering at the market. It was a full day with lots to see and the additional lectures with the museum guides. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and ended it with dinner on the beach

Wonderful customised tour - Kwame was very responsive and quickly put together a customised tour for me in less than a day’s notice. My guide Clinton was very accommodating to the changes I wanted to make on the day. He was also very considerate and sensitive to my needs and interests. He even went the extra mile to help deliver the shirts I tailored at the local market. I had a great day. Thank you guys!

Birthday Trip - I would be coming back to Ghana and book again with Kwame Tours Ghana!! Booking with Kwame Tours Ghana was the best!! We booked the Accra Delailed City Tour with them. They replied back to us quickly and 2 hours later we were on our way. Our tour guide Alex was the best!!! Alex was on time and welcoming. He very informative and helpful. Us being two females traveling alone Alex made sure we were safe and not taken advantage of. If there was anything we needed or was looking to get he was there to make it happen. He made my birthday trip one that I will always remember and I'll be back for sure!!! Thank you!!

Excellent Experience of Accra - Clinton was an amazing tour guide! In just a few short hours he was able to get us to the W.E.B. Dubois home, the Ghana National Museum (a GREAT experience), the Makola Market, Jamestown and the fishing boats, and the Arts Center. We never had to wait more than 2 minutes for an Uber/taxi and everything went smoothly. I feel like we were able to get a really good feel for Accra and important Ghanaian history and culture. I would fully encourage you to take a tour with Kwame Tours!

This Tour Doesn't Work With UBER! - This would have been a good tour but was simply ruined by having to use Ubers which we weren't expecting. When we kicked up a fuss about this at the very start, it was pointed out to us that in the small print it specifies that Ubers could be used when the group was small (a couple in our case). It was an awful start, plus the guide was late...because he had to use an Uber to get to the hotel! At the very end of the day we had to get an Uber from Labadi Beach back to the hotel which we actually had to pay for (plus extra for air conditioning!). No kidding! What made this excursion worse was the the fact that the day before we hired a car and a driver for the day to take us to various places for less than the price of this tour. He was excellent. It would have been a much better experience to have used him to take us round to the various places of interest as he had even suggested. We declined at the time, because we had pre-booked the detailed city tour. As we had no context or historical perspective about the places of interest from our guide (who was nice enough person), we might as well have just done it ourselves. The best part of the tour was going to the Nkrumah Memorial and the museum. Esther the museum tour guide was absolutely brilliant with fantastic knowledge and story-telling ability. She deeply immersed us into Ghanaian history and culture, and kept us interested from beginning to end. The worst bit was the arts gallery. Could not see the point of it! Sorry, this was just not worth it! It could work very well, but not with Uber. Easier to do it yourself!
