DAY 1: THURSDAY AUGUST 22, 2024 - ARRIVAL IN ACCRA GHANA

Accra - Arrive in Accra, Ghana. Transfer to your hotel. Hotel check-in is at 3 pm. Upon arrival, Hausa Tours will welcome you to the Motherland with authentic, Ghanaian cuisine before you settle in for the evening.

DAY 2: FRIDAY AUGUST 23, 2024 - ACCRA CITY TOUR

W.E.B. DuBois Center - Visit W.E.B. DuBois Center, the home, library and final resting place of American-born crusader for social justice, William Edward Burghardt DuBois.

National Museum of Ghana - Visit the National Museum of Ghana which features excellent displays on various aspects of Ghanaian culture and history.

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - Visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the final resting place for Ghana’s first president

Center for National Culture - Continue to the National Art and Cultural Centre shopping view a varied collection of Ghanaian hand-crafted items on sale. You may try out your bargaining skills on the local vendors and “shop till you drop”.

Independence Square - Stop for photo opportunity at the Independence Arch and Black Star Square, Accra’s ceremonial grounds.

DAY 3: SATURDAY AUGUST 24, 2024 - COOKING/ DRUMMING LESSONS & CHALE WOTE FESTIVAL

Accra - This morning, you may choose to one of the activities below:

i. Attend a cooking workshop, after which you will be able to impress your friends and family for years to come with the traditional recipes you will learn. You will learn to make Ghanaian Jollof Rice, red- red and palava sauce. Sample some of Ghana’s most popular foods.

ii. Visit an African Dance Institute for two exciting hours of drumming and dancing Workshop. Learn at first hand African dance forms that incorporate elements of American modern dance with the native Ghanaian dance forms as well.

Independence Square - In the evening, head out to Chale Wote Street Art Festival, the biggest arts and cultural festival in West Africa. The festival brings together amazing artist, musicians, fashion desighners etc. Enjoy spontaneous performances by dancers, drummers, cyclists, skaters, and a flash mob of patrons. Also muskets, brass bands, and hiplife and Afropop music is usually on display. Later at night you can check out some of Accra’s hottest spots for nightlife.

DAY 4: SUNDAY AUGUST 25, 2024 - CHALE WOTE FESTIVAL

Independence Square - Morning is free to relax. In the evening, proceed for the last day of Chale Wote Street Art Festival.

DAY 5: MONDAY AUGUST 26, 2024 - FREE DAY

Accra - Day is free to relax in your hotel. No Tour Guiding and Transportation Services. Accommodation Only.

DAY 6: TUESDAY AUGUST 27, 2024 - KAKUM NATIONAL PARK TOUR

Kakum National Park - In the morning, you will visit the Kakum National Park to experience one of Africa’s Canopy Walkways suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. Check into your hotel and rest of day is free to relax at the beach.

DAY 7: WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28, 2024 - SLAVE RIVER & CASTLE TOUR

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park - In the morning, travel to Assin Manso, the burial site of two former slaves from the U. S. and Jamaica whose remains were re-interred in August 1998 during Ghana’s first Emancipation Day Celebration. You will see the “Slave River” where captured Africans were washed before being confined in the Slave Castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean.

Cape Coast Castle - Visit Cape Coast and Elmina Slave Castles, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, was two of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas. The castle is home to the infamous “Door of No Return”.

DAY 8: THURSDAY AUGUST 29, 2024 - NAMING CEREMONY/ ACCRA

Cape Coast - Today’s dress code is all white.
After breakfast, visit a typical Ghanaian village and pay a courtesy call on the Chief and his elders. Participate in a traditional naming ceremony and claim your African identity by adopting a Ghanaian name. In the afternoon, depart for Accra, Ghana’s capital city. Arrive by late afternoon and check into your hotel.

DAY 9: FRIDAY AUGUST 30, 2024 - DEPART ACCRA

Accra - Morning is free for last-minute shopping and packing. Transfer to the airport for departure.
