The trail begins in the small village of Agia Irini, situated at an elevation of around 560 meters. The path stretches approximately 7.5 kilometers and takes about 3 hours to complete. The gorge varies in width throughout, and you’ll find yourself pausing frequently to appreciate the sunlight filtering through the tree canopy.
Sougia Beach - Sougia is a quaint seaside village located 70 kilometers south of Chania, at the mouth of the Agia Irini gorge. Directly in front of the village lies the beautiful Sougia Beach, characterized by its small pebbles. The beach extends from the west, near the small harbor, and runs eastward for about 1.5 kilometers. The further east you go, the fewer people you’ll encounter. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the stunning blue, crystal-clear waters and the local traditional restaurants.
