Making delicious makgeolli that will impress you - It was my first time making makgeolli. I was taught how to make makgeolli very carefully and it was a wonderful time. I was able to sample many different kinds of makgeolli. The homemade makgeolli was incredibly delicious. I'm looking forward to taking the makgeolli home with me.

Fun hands on class with a great instructor - Joe was an excellent host and had great communication both before and after the class. I'd recommend this as a unique experience to anyone who likes getting hands on and learning something new. As a bonus, the makgeolli keeps flowing and it's fun seeing the difference between all the different options.

Excellent class with engaging instructor - This class was wonderful, Joe is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his craft and happy to share with others! I'd recommend this class to anyone travelling to Seoul in a heartbeat, don't miss out! My only regret is that I wouldn't be able to take my makgeolli with me on the plane home.

Amazing Joe with great ambience - Joe was fantastic. I enjoyed the classes and got to drink different types of makgeolli. Joe taught us that making makgeolli does not require fancy equipments. I got see take home my own bottle of makgeolli! He also sells makgeolli and soju brewed by him. His sweet potato makgeolli is very addictive and taste awesome. His bar/store would be my first stop to stock up on makgeolli when I visit Seoul again.

Awesome and Inspiring Experience! - My husband and I really enjoyed this class which felt like half learning/doing, and half (practically) unlimited drinks. Joe was so nice and the day before, we asked to move our date and he was flexible and responded so quickly. We found this place in this cute alleyway with a bunch of other shops, it's very cozy and warm inviting atmosphere. We sat down and had tons of different makgeolli as he went through the history and how to make it. There was only the 4 of us in this session so it felt personalized. It's super convenient that he has youtube videos and sends instructions afterwards. We all went back with our own huge jar (FYI you need to burp it every day, otherwise it bursts open). Being back in San Francisco, we're inspired to make some of our own! If we ever go back to Seoul, we'd totally go back for a drink. Thank you, Joe!

Fun class - Informative class with a chance to get hands on in making it. There were plenty of samples to try. Love the atmosphere of the class and Joe did an excellent job of sharing his methods. You get to take home your creation for you to try later.

2-Day Makgeolli and Nuruk Making Experience - We had an awesome time at Baekusaeng Makgeolli this mid-January 2024. Both o us had experience making makgeolli and signed up for what amounted to a two-day session. On day 1, we focused on making makgeolli. The lesson included makgeolli history, brewing process, tasting, and hands on experience. We made a seasonal, fruited (pineapple) makgeolli. We took the makgeolli home in plastic containers to observe and filter after a 7-14ish day period. Having just filtered (and drank) our wonju, I can say that we were extremely pleased at the process and results. We learned a lot and plan to apply it to our future makgeolli brewing. On day 2, we focused on multi-step makgeollis as well as making nuruk from scratch. Neither of us had made nuruk before and were excited at the opportunity. The class was information oriented with hands on application. We left the class with our own blocks of nuruk to tend throughout a 7/7/7 processing period, as well a plenty of makgeolli tasting and documentation. We highly valued the knowledge and experience that Joe and the team at Baekusaeng Makgeolli provided. Aside from amassing a great deal of new technical information, we appreciated the tailored and organic nature of the sessions as well as the cultural comradery. Looking forward to future opportunities to engage with Baekusaeng and highly recommend a casual visit or a makgeolli class to anyone interested.

Great experience when visiting Korea. - Great experience when visiting Korea. You learn about what traditional Makgeolli is, in comparison to what you can buy in the supermarkt or drink in a restaurant. Very interesting and Joe can answers all your questions. You can take the makgeolli home with you so you can do the rest of the process yourself. Thanks again!
