- Faros Market - You will be visiting Faros Market, situated in beautiful Akrotiri, a local farm and winery where Maria and her family cultivate their own organic products. There you will explore their old wine cellar, equipped with oak barrels and traditional machinery, and enjoy the Wineways lunch; a rich selection of local delicacies, from farm-to-table. You will also get to visit the vines and try 3 local and organic wine varieties – Assyrtiko, Nykteri and Vinsanto. Fantastic wine tour! - Private tour arranged by Santorini Secret Suites & Spa. This was a fantastic experience as our first introduction to the wines of Santorini. As you would expect with his experience and qualifications Nikos is highly knowledgeable about all of wines and their production. But more than that he is an excellent host, really friendly, great to talk to and has a great knowledge of the island. On our tour we visited Argyros, Venetsanos and Faros Market. Argyros we tasted four great wines in their beautiful super modern vineyard; Venetsanos we learned about the electricity free wine production facility on which the winery was founded and tasted three wines with a great view (see photo); finally we visited Faros Market a much smaller producer and enjoyed a traditional lunch in the shade accompanied with their great Assyrtiko finishing with dessert and vin santo. We would highly recommend a Wine Ways tour for anyone visiting Santorini who has an interest in wine.
