Highlights
  • Cairo Tower - The Cairo Tower (Egyptian Arabic: برج القاهرة, Borg El-Qāhira) is a free-standing concrete tower in Cairo, Egypt. At 187 m (614 ft), it was the tallest structure in Egypt for 37 years until 1998, when it was surpassed by the Suez Canal overhead powerline crossing. It was the tallest structure in North Africa for 21 years until 1982 when it was surpassed by the Nador transmitter in Morocco. It was the tallest structure in Africa for one year until 1962 when it was surpassed by Sentech Tower in South Africa.
  • Qasr El Nil Bridge - The Qasr el Nil Bridge (originally named Khedive Ismail Bridge, Egyptian Arabic: Asr el Nil Bridge), is a historic swing bridge structure dating from 1931 which replaced the first bridge to span the Nile River in central Cairo, Egypt.[2] It connects Tahrir Square in Downtown Cairo on the east bank of the river, to the southern end of Gezira/Zamalek Island. At the bridge’s east and west approaches are four large bronze lion statues; they are late 19th-century works by Henri Alfred Jacquemart, a French sculptor and animalier.
  • Sixth of October Bridge - The 6th October Bridge (Arabic: كوبري 6 أكتوبر, Kubri 6(sadis) uktubar) is an elevated highway in central Cairo, Egypt. The 20.5-kilometre (12.7 mi) bridge and causeway crosses the Nile twice from the west bank suburbs, east through Gezira Island to Downtown Cairo, and on to connect the city to other highways that lead to the Cairo International Airport to the east.

Its name commemorates the date of ‘The Crossing’, which commenced the outbreak day of the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

  • Zamalek (Gezira Island) - Zamalek (Arabic: الزمالك pronounced [ez.zæˈmæːlek], al zamalek) is a qism (ward) within the West District (hayy gharb) in the Western Area of Cairo, Egypt.[1] It is an affluent man-made island that geologically is part of the west bank of the Nile River, with the bahr al-a’ma (Blind Canal) cut during the second half of the 19th Century to separate it from the west bank proper.[2] The northern third has been developed into a residential area, which was home to 14,946 people during the 2017 census.[3] The southern two-thirds are mostly sports grounds and public gardens, a stark green reserve in the middle of Cairo.

The island is connected with the river banks by four bridges: the Qasr El Nil Bridge, the Galaa Bridge, the 15 May Bridge, and the 6th October Bridge.

  • Cairo Opera House - The opera house was inaugurated on 10 October 1988. The funds for the complex were a gift from the nation of Japan to Egypt as a result of President Hosni Mubarak’s visit to Japan in April 1983. Construction began in May 1985 and lasted for three years.[1]

In October 1988, President Mubarak and Prince Tomohito of Mikasa, the younger brother of the Japanese Emperor, inaugurated the National Cultural Centre Cairo Opera House. It was the first time for Japan to stage a Kabuki show, a traditional popular drama with singing and dancing, in Africa or the Arab World.

  • Ahly Club Gymnastics Center - The idea of establishing Al Ahly came in the first 10 years of the 20th century and was first raised by Omar Lotfy who was a student in the Egyptian Law School during his presidency of the High School Students Club, which was established in 1905. The establishment of a club for high school students was for political reasons, and the students needed a sports club to gather them for leisure and exercise.
  • Nile River - A boat ride along the Nile is a quintessential Egypt experience and there are plenty of ways to get on the water. Admire Cairo’s illuminated skyline on an evening dinner cruise.

Relaxing cruise - We originally booked the cruise tour however we were informed it was cancelled due to mechanical issues. The tour guide did provide us additional options we chose to use the speedboat tour which was very nice. Excellent views of the Nile. It was very romantic. The staff was very nice. The location is hard to find it took us an extra 20 min, but the captain waited for us and gave us an extra 20 min on the boat. I would recommend, he was very communicative.

360 views, only open air can offer. - I am so glad I found a boat tour where I can experience the Nile in the day and night time. I choose the 6pm tour for that reason and it didn't disappoint. I love the visibility in the day and vibe at night. The staff and entertainers were all high energy and it was an amazing time. Big shout out to the guy with the drums, who was dancing as well. Made it easy to have fun. They were all very attentive and helped take photos of me as I was traveling solo. I added on the Egyptian dinner and it was so big I couldn't finish it, but enjoyed every bite. The best part is the 360 views from up top. I was hopping around like a bunny taking photos. So easy to see everything in open air. It was also fun to go under the bridges, because you get so close. If I had more days in Cairo, I would go again.

Relaxing and enjoyable ride - I requested for a last minute change of time and Omar willing to accommodate it and change it to the speed boat. The boat went slow and there is no loud music as requested by the co-passenger, which is nice. It was a relaxing and quiet ride, which is what I am after for, glad that I took the package. We even managed to catch the fountain, such a mesmerizing sight. Will definitely recommend this to the others.
