Highlights
  • Cairo - Day Tour to El Fayoum begins with a hotel pickup at 07:00 AM. The drive from Cairo to El Fayoum takes about an hour. The tour starts with a visit to Tunis Village in Fayoum. This small village, located in the Fayoum oasis on the way to Wadi Rayan, sits on a hill overlooking a large saltwater lake and offers a breathtaking view of the desert’s edge across the lake. It is considered one of the most beautiful spots in Egypt.

  • Wadi El-Rayan - Covering an area of 1759 km², Wadi El-Rayan features 113 km² of lakes. It is situated approximately 65 km southwest of Faiyum city and 80 km west of the Nile River. The valley contains man-made lakes formed from agricultural drainage, creating two separate Wadi El Rayan Lakes. The reserve includes a 50.90 km² upper lake and a 62.00 km² lower lake, connected by waterfalls. The southern side of the lower lake has three sulfur springs and extensive mobile sand dunes. Wadi El Rayan Waterfalls are the largest in Egypt.

To the south and southeast of the springs lies Gabal Manqueer Al Rayan, known for marine fossils and archaeological remains. Gabal Madwera, near the lower lake, is famous for its extensive dune formations.

  • Qarun Lake - Also known as Qarun Pool, this lake is located in Fayoum city in Upper Egypt, northwest of Beni Suef and about 50 kilometers west of the Nile River. It is one of the largest natural lakes in Egypt.

  • Valley of the Whales (Wadi Al-Hitan) - Wādī al-Ḥītān, or ‘Wadi of the Whales,’ is a paleontological site in the Faiyum Governorate, about 150 kilometers southwest of Cairo. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2005, it contains hundreds of fossils of early whale forms, the archaeoceti, which are now extinct. The site provides crucial evidence for understanding the evolution of whales from land-based to ocean-going mammals.

No other location in the world offers the same number, concentration, and quality of such fossils, along with their accessibility in a protected and scenic landscape. This uniqueness led to its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005.

Visitors can enjoy sandboarding, the sand dunes, and the Magic Lake, making it one of Egypt’s top destinations. The tour concludes with a drive back to your hotel in Cairo.

Such a fantastic day! - One of my absolute favorite days on my recent trips to Egypt. Our guide Osama was fantastic and we had such a fun day from dune crashing to sand surfing, Valley of the Whales, Magic Lake, the beautiful Waterfalls and everything in between. I would highly recommend this tour, it’s wonderful to get out of Cairo and see the countryside.

The highlight of my entire holiday - The whole trip was fantastic. My guide for the day, Moamen, and the driver Bilal Ghan were both great. The trip into the desert was unforgettable. The driver in the desert camp, Hamadan was also very good. Of all the things I experienced during my holiday in Egypt, this trip was the highlight

Top class service from EMO, Islam and the drivers - This was a lovely expedition. The pick up was on time, actually we were a bit late but Islam and Yahia kindly waited for us. We visited all sights and got everything in the package , guided tour, adventure, kindness and generosity. We had water all the time, the food was lovely. The drivers are very skilled and very safe, they made the journey very enjoyable. Islam is a very nice and kind person who is aware of what he does. He added a lot more to our journey that sight seeing. Thanks to Islam , Yahia and the two 4x4 drivers who I sadly forgot their names. Staff at the camp were excellent and provided us with cold and hot drink in addition to a very delicious lunch. I would definitely recommend EMO and I look forward Elton food more activities with them.

A must to do in Egypt! - If you come to Egypt, this trip its a must! A very different experience, such a mellow day to rest of Cairo madness! Our trip was with Emo tours, excellent punctuality, but had ( so sorry I'm not sure how to spell his name) was a great guide, easy going, no pushing any purchases or side activities, always asking if we were ok, giving us time to read and see the museum of climate change, this was very educational before going to see the open air museum... the landscape is breathtaking! The waterfalls and the magic lake absolutely beautiful! Fun trip in 4 wheeler, sandboarding, and a delicious Bedouin meal, tasty and healthy all done with organic ingredients.

Thrilling ride to the Valley of the Whales - The visit to Valley of the Whales was the highlight and our main motivation for the trip. This amazing site is remote and we would have never made it on our own. Driving a 4x4 across the dunes and desert with Bedouin music blasting was thrilling! The driver was a pro! We did not spend much time at the Magic Lake or the waterfalls (which were crowded with locals due to the Eid holiday) due to the June afternoon heat. Lunch at the camp was simple but good. Transport and hotel pickup/dropoff was efficient.
