Additional Information

In 1914, more than 41,000 soldiers departed from Albany to fight in World War I. For many of them, it was their last glimpse of their homeland. Now, at this exact location, you can find the high-tech, award-winning National Anzac Centre. This modern museum leverages multimedia, engrossing technology, and authentic exhibits to forge a deeply personal link with history and honour those who fought.

The museum combines classic exhibit displays and engaging multimedia content to guide the visitors on a journey. Visitors adopt the persona of one of 32 real soldiers and trace their voyage through the Great War—starting with recruitment, transitioning into training and embarking, leading into life aboard the convoy ships, and onward into the battles at Gallipoli, the Middle East, and the Western Front. For the fortunate ones who made it back, visitors will see firsthand their struggles when reintegrating back into everyday life.

  • All buildings and attractions adjacent to the National Anzac Centre are included as part of the admission price.

Do not miss visiting this site - Well set out centre great to be involved with the person you get to follow through the centre upon entry. The displays are fantastic and if you are not very knowlegable about war time you will leave here understanding more. Outside the grounds are beautiful and so much more to read and learn not to mention the view from the top.

Exceeded expectations - We arrived with high expectations and those expectations were exceeded by the quality and presentation of the displays. This and the adjoining fort are an important part of our history that must be preserved for future generations.

Lest We Forget - We had visitors from New Zealand who saw the museum the day after ANZAC Day. A very moving experience. The view from Mt Clarence was clear on a windy day. We could have spent so much more time there.

Wonderful Experience - Visited just after Anzac Day which made it a very poignant experience. Very good use technology to access stories via your entry card and listen to audio about the individual soldier.

Stunning sadness, Reflecting Respect - If it’s one thing you must do in Albany, it’s to Visit this centre and the surrounding area. A truly meaningful and moving understanding and reflection of the sacrifices made for our todays, given by our ANZACs and others. Beautifully set out and the in-depth history and journey shown visually, verbally and interactively is amazing. We will visit again if ever back in Albany, a simply must do
