Highlights
  • Seville - Review below the sights visited
  • Plaza de Espana - Set in the middle of the park’s elaborate Moorish-style gardens, Plaza de España was built in a classic Renaissance Revival style, and is now home to several important Government buildings.

. Its semi-elliptic floor is surrounded by an estuary that separates the inner plaza by a marble banister. Four tiled brick bridges, representing different regions of Spain, allow access across the estuary

  • Barrio Santa Cruz - “Bairro de Santa Cruz” the famous Jewish quarter located in the city center, surrounded by beautiful and big houses, palaces and white backyards smelling like flowers.

Wander around Santa Cruz, admiring its cluster of whitewashed houses and lively tapas bars that spill onto the streets

  • Catedral de Sevilla - Stop at least for photos outside Seville Cathedral, one of the world’s largest Gothic cathedrals.
  • Real Alcazar de Sevilla - The Cathedral and the “Alcazar” Palace – originally a Moorish fort and once the Royal family residence. This palace is one of the best remaining examples of “Mudéjar” architecture, a style under Christian rule in Spain using Islamic architectural influence.

Walk around the outside of Real Alcazar Palace, home of King Juan Carlos, and admire its array of architectural styles that range from Moorish to Neoclassical.

The entrance is not included and please be careful with the time if you decided to use all you free time in Seville (3 hours) to visit the palace

  • Torre del Oro - Sightsee independently, shop for souvenirs or relax over lunch in one of the city’s atmospheric tapas bars (own expense); how you enjoy your free time is up to you! Then, meet your guide at the prearranged time and travel back to your hotel in the Algarve where your day trip finishes.

The guide will provide you 3 hours in total in Seville to use on your own after giving all information and explanation of seville importance.

  • Parque de Maria Luisa - Explore Maria Luisa Park, and hear how its centerpiece square and palace complex Plaza de España was created for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition World’s Fair.

Well worth the trip. - The coach arrived on time. The guide was superb. Her English (and German) language were perfect. It was good to get a coffee stop on the way as it was needed for the toilet! Plenty of time given to tour the city but it should be no less than 4 hours free time. Return journey was very long- took around 4.5 hours but I understand traffic may have been heavy with alot of drop offs.

Day Trip of Seville with Melina. - Mika was a very pleasant and very knowledgeable host who knew her history and the way around Seville. She took us away from crowded areas and into places less travelled. Her English was great. She made the private tour so enjoyable. A great treat. We didn’t have a wine sampling as advertised but that’s OK. Thank you Milia.

Seville - I was expecting a bit more of a guided tour. As I have mobility issues, the guide walked much faster than I was able. Once I understood the plan, I had a great time.

A good day trip - A VERY early pick up from our hotel (0545), to travel AWAY from Seville to the tour pick up point and then spent best part of an hour doing several other pick ups......and finally left for the tour at 0710. A 3 hour (approx) journey then to Seville, with a half hour refreshment stop. Arrived in Seville approx 1100 Spanish time (Portugal is same time as UK)...our guide took us along the river front to explain where to meet if you wanted to do the river cruise and where to pick the bus up to return back to Portugal. We were then shown into city to the area around cathedral and given directions for places to visit. You then go your own way round the city. We did a little bit of shopping and then took a stroll towards Plaza de Espanya which was very nice and a beautiful location...then to find somewhere fo lunch. There are hundreds of places to eat and drink in Seville but we wanted Tapas.....we settle on a little back street Tapas bar called La Cata.....a very quaint little place with very helpful staff and exquisite food. Then a walk back to pick up bus back to Portugal. Thankfully, we were dropped off at our hotel on way back......shame we couldn't have been picked up there in first place at a more reasonable time. A good day all in all...my only concern is that 4 hours in a city the size of Seville isn't really long enough....there is so much to see and nowhere near enough time.

An enjoyable trip gone sour. - Firstly, I was supposed to be picked up from the hotel Velamar at 7 am, the pick up spot/time was later changed to bus stand at 6:30 am, no identification of which bus to look for was ever provided. Due to number of emails floating, called twice a day before to verify everything, left messages but the calls were never returned. The tour operator was less than cordial ( really rude ) when asked question as happened personally with me in Seville. The instructions as to what time to return were unclear. Seville is one hour ahead of Portugal but she was still using the Portugal time for return. The confusion caused due to unclear instructions and changes in clock time resulted in a loss of one hour of my valuable time which could have been spent visiting monuments. All in all a horrible experience. I will never use Viator for my future trips.

Nice city too far - We spent more time on the bus than in Seville. The guide kept giving confusing instructions. Seville was beautiful. Thanks

A Misguided Tour - If you are looking for a guided tour of the important sights of Seville this tour is not for you. In effect it was seven hours, uncomfortable seating, round trip bus transportation from Albufeira to Seville with a “guide” on board providing comments en route. On arrival in Seville we were pointed to the major sights and left to ourselves for close to five hours to find our way around. No map to help and found many of the attractions needed tickets for entry at considerable extra cost.
