Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - At 7:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel and head straight to Alexandria, where we will spend the next two and a half hours traveling by highway to get to our starting point “Kom El Shoqafa” in Alexandria.
Kom El Shoqafa contains a collection of tombs, statues, and archaeological artifacts associated with the Pharaonic funeral mortuary cults and Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman influences. Because of the time, many of the characteristics of Kom El Shoqafa’s catacombs combine Roman, Greek, and Egyptian cultural points; some statues are Egyptian in style but wear Roman clothes and hairstyles, while others share a similar style. A circular staircase descends into the tombs tunneled into the bedrock during the Antonine emperors’ reign. (2nd century AD)From the 2nd to the 4th centuries, the building was used as a burial chamber before being rediscovered in 1900. - Pompey’s Pillar - It Will be the secondary attraction. The Pompey Pillar’s moniker is deceptive. Gaius Pompey, a Roman general, and consul, was a rival of Julius Caesar in a civil war and was assassinated by a Ptolemaic pharaoh in 48 BC as he escaped to Alexandria. This single column, which is perched on a rocky hilltop in the center of Alexandria, has nothing to do with him. Crusaders believed his grave was marked by a 100-foot (30-meter) red Aswan granite pillar, which is how this tale got its start. The pillar is a triumphal monument built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the year 300 AD, but the real importance of this archaeological site lies in what was here before the pillar. The Serapeum, Alexandria’s acropolis, is located there.
- Fort Qaitbey - The third stop will be this. In Alexandria, Egypt, on the Mediterranean Sea the coast, stands the 15th-century defensive fortress known as the Citadel of Qaitbay or the Fort of Qaitbay. In 1477 AD (882 AH), Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa’it Bay founded it. The Citadel is located at the mouth of the Eastern Harbour on the eastern edge of Pharos Island’s northern tip.
- Bibliotheca Alexandrina - We will visit The world’s largest library: “Bibliotheca Alexandrina”, which currently has 8 million Books. Visit its open court to see the statues of Ptolemy the First and Alexander the Great, Which were both discovered close underwater. You will go to “The President Saddat Museum” and the “Alexandria Museum” of Impressions. Please note that the Alexandria Library is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and legal holidays. You will need to buy a ticket to access the reading section. Finally, we will travel to the beginning location for around 2.5 hours on the highway.

Alexandria with Eslam - Eslam is an awesome guide. Very knowledgeable and funny. Heart of gold. Doesn’t push/“recommend” for anything unless you want something yourself. He is a MUST HAVE for Alexandria

A PERFECT TRIP TO ALEXANDRIA - Adhoc booking: We made the reservation 10 hours prior to our departure at the last minute. Our driver, Omar, picked us up at our hotel, made the trip really easy, and arrived in Alexandria early. He even went above and beyond by providing us with Turkish coffee. Our tour guide, Eslam, was a laid-back guy who was well-versed in the history of Alexandria. He took us to the nicest restaurant, Market Fish, which serves fresh fish and delicious calamares, and was so kind to offer to treat us to some of Alexandria's delicacies. Eslam helped us go to the bank for currency change and even paid for our cigarettes as we didn't have enough Egyptian pound. My favorite part of the trip was the Catacombs; if you book this tour, be sure to include these two highly recommended 👌 pure kindness.

Surely a good day’s worth of a trip - We had a great time in Alexandria. We booked a private car and our driver has been really great at showing us around and recommending places to see. We told him the things we wanted to do and food we’d like to eat and he promptly took us to all the places and suggested other activities as well. Our day started at 8 am and we reached back to Cairo by 8 pm! All in all, a fun and adventurous day thanks to our driver Kemo!
The car is great, nice and clean, the drive to Alexandria was smooth and relaxing with a great highway. Kemo was very fun to talk to and showed us around places we didn’t really think to see. He made our day trip worthwhile :)

Excellent Driver! Tour ok! - I was most looking forward to this trip because of the Library of Alexandria. Our driver Omar was really good we engaging and respectful! Once the tour started it was ok, nothing over the top. There was a mild disconnect between us and the tour guide but he quickly recovered towards the end. The driver took us back to Cairo….basically our hero of the tour was the driver Omar 🙌🏾
