Fantastic tour that shows the highlights of Almaty. - I went on the Private Almaty tour with Dastan. He picked me up from my hotel on time and proceeded to expertly show me around his beautiful city. He meticulously arranged the order of the places to visit in order to avoid the crowds. Some of the attractions we visited were the Medeu, Kok Tobe, the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, and the Almaty Central Mosque. The highlight for me was the Ascension Cathedral, the stunning Russian Orthodox church made of wood with some of the most intricately ornate interior I’ve ever seen. Definitely a must see! Along the way, Dastan also pointed out some of the other attractions of Almaty that were not included in the program. Overall, this is a concise and informative tour showing the main highlights of Almaty. It’s well suited for those with limited time & wanting to see what the city has to offer.

Nice introduction to Almaty - I took this tour on my first day visiting Almaty, and I'm glad I decided to do so. Dastan, who showed me around, is really friendly and knowledgeable about the city and its history. I'd recommend this tour if you want to see the main highlights that the city has to offer and to get a lay of the land.

Dmitry made our trip memorable! - We had a great time with Dmitry! He was very knowledgeable and was very easy to talk to . He was willing to answer any questions we had for him and if we wanted to stop somewhere off the beaten path he was more than willing to help us out on our journey. This trip was remarkable even though it was very hot we had an amazing time. Thank you for a great trip/memory!

Almaty Tour - I highly recommend Sanzhak’s day tour of Almaty if you have a free day. The combination of driving up into the spectacular scenery of the mountains, going up to 3,200m on the chairlifts, and then seeing all the main highlights in the city centre made for a really interesting and full day. Top marks.

Checks all the boxes, decent introductory city tour. - Overall the tour checks the boxes, that is it. Medeo skating: longish drive and then a glimpse of the skating arena from a distance, that's it. Kok Tobe Hill: the only thing worthwhile here is to have a decent view of the city from the top. There's a direct gondola (cable car) from the city top come here instead of the drive. Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen and cathedral: calm sombre environment ash the war memorial, naturally. The cathedral design and interiors were noteworthy. Good experience. Grand Mosque: was merely a glimpse from the car; it was Friday afternoon prayer time. However, the guide did not suggest anything else given that we could not stop and enter the mosque. Overall it was adequate. The tour started and ended on time (in 4 hours), exactly as mentioned. It covered only those mentioned in the itinerary even though there were other attractions on the way, where one could have stopped for at least a photo opportunity. The guide was courteous and we had a decent general conversation. There's no reason to complain and also there's no reason to be delighted.

Worst hotel in almaty to stay. - I stayed at the most unprofessional hotel named Golden palace Hotel front desk staff was nor aware what they were doing.they did nothing which was mentioned on booking.com site, Break was the worst I had in my travelling life. I booked two rooms with one day difference in arrival.they did not notice the different date and claimed room charge for on extra day.

Choppy but occasionally interesting - This was an interesting tour. Our guide texted at the last minute that he would be 30 minutes late picking us up. I didn’t see it for a while, so we continued waiting in the lobby of our hotel for him. He was an hour late. We started the tour asking for lots of stories and history. We love hearing the stories that people tell about their country, history and their values, etc. Our guide readily agreed to do so, but then did not tell any stories during our day together. He basically answered questions and told us what we were looking at, but I did not provide any color or interesting tidbits to make what we were seeing come to life. There were large periods of silence, which our guide spent on his phone. I suspect that part of the issue might have been his English, which wasn’t as strong as we would have expected based on other tours, we have taken in Asia. That said, our guide seemed like a kind person. We first traveled to the Shymbulak (sp) ski resort, which was pretty cool. We paid for the gondola ride up to the top of the mountain, and had a good look around. It’s a beautiful area and would be fun to come back to during the ski season! At that time, our guide asked if we could take a one hour break. We ended up switching drivers once we left at the ski resort (losing the bottled water that we had brought for our tour, but left in the first car, thinking we would return). Our guide dropped us back off at the hotel and promised to return in one hour. He said that the first driver had taken his car to the airport and that he needed to go retrieve it. By this time we were not sure if we wanted to continue the tour with him or not, thinking that we could do an equally fine job, giving ourselves a tour. We ended up waiting for him to return. Our guide came back in two hours, saying that the first driver had passed out from exhaustion in the car at the airport, and he had to take him to the hospital. I wasn’t feeling well, so I stayed at the hotel while my daughter continued the tour. She said it was pretty much the same, where he took her to several places, including a beautiful cathedral, and pointed things out and answered basic questions. She was uninspired. I can only imagine with that being a tour guide is a challenging job, and this particular tomorrow tour was made more difficult with transportation issues. However, I would not recommend using this service if you have a limited / precious time in Almaty. It did not show the city off to its best advantage. This is also the second tour I have booked it with this particular Internet service and the second poor tour. I’ve never had a bad tour in all of our years booking through a different Internet service so I think I will switch back to that one. I hope this helps!
