Highlights
 • The Citadel - Start your 8-hour private tour with a pickup from your central Amman hotel. Travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to the hilltop Citadel overlooking the Jordanian capital, accompanied by your private English-speaking driver who also serves as your guide. Along the way, learn fascinating facts about this hilltop collection of Roman, Byzantine, and early Islamic ruins before heading inside to explore.
 • Roman Temple of Hercules - Visit the impressive Roman Temple of Hercules, stroll through colonnaded streets, and discover other relics as your guide shares the history of each monument.
 • Roman Theatre - Proceed to Amman’s magnificent 2nd-century Roman Amphitheater, once part of the ancient city of Philadelphia, which stood where the modern capital is today. Marvel at the scale and symmetry of the 6,000-seat arena and listen to your guide explain how it was designed to face north to protect spectators from the sun’s intense heat.

Enter the ancient city gate and wander through the well-preserved ruins as your guide recounts stories of the city’s golden age. See its arches, theaters, and elegant colonnaded street.
 • Oval Plaza - Capture photos of the stunning Oval Plaza, an intriguing egg-shaped public square surrounded by standing columns, as well as the Temples of Artemis and Zeus. The Ruins - I think by far, this trip to the Jarash was the most easy and enjoyable one for me during my week stay in Jordan. Located in the northern part of Amman, it's an easy less than a 2-hour drive from the city. Passing along mountains and valleys of beautiful colours different shades depending on the ray of light of the sun. The city in ruins pre-dates back the Roman era of grandeur- it's amazing! Don't skip this place when you're in Jordan it's worth visiting.

You get the loveliest travel guide... -
You get the loveliest travel guide if you manage to get Shaadi, in saying that Jerash is lovely, you will get a guide who expects a tip (as do most people in Jordan) but Amman, not much to see and glad we left it to the last day as we were a tad exhausted by that stage. Shaadi was accoomodating of our request to see the experience the real food of Jordan, went to a lovely restaurant serving local food and eating with the locals.

Jerash was worth it - I liked Jerash although the guide later fought with another guide. The car wasn’t prestigious given all the money I paid. Didn’t find the driver when I finished my tour. Wasn’t asked what I wanted for lunch. It was just chosen for me. Wasn’t shown the museum in Citadel. Other than that, all went well.

Tour driver was more than a half... -
Tour driver was more than a half hour late picking me up, and when I called the local tour operator number it was out of service, I had to call Viator for help. When I asked the driver how long it would take to drive to Jerash he told me a landslide had blocked the main road and it would take 2-1/2 hours each way, well more than the time I had just to drive to and from. I wondered if, had I not inquired, he would have just started driving me there anyway! He took me on a tour of Amman and some locations south of Amman toward the airport, from which he had picked me up on a private arrangement. The driver was not knowledgeable of the places he took me and I mainly figured out what I was seeing myself. Driver spent a lot of time on what appeared to be personal cell phone calls. While taking me back to the airport the driver pressured me to write, sign and give to him an evaluation while I was still dependent on him getting mew back to the airport in time for my connecting flight, so if he shows that as proof what a great job he did, it was coerced. I made the best of a bad situation. I still have confidence in Viator but would not recommend this driver or this local provider.
