  • Prinsengracht 279 - The Westerkerk, built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style by master builder Hendrick de Keyser and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser. The church features a high central nave flanked by two lower side aisles and a rectangular plan with two transepts, forming the shape of two connected Greek crosses.
  • Anne Frank House - A museum at Westermarkt 20, dedicated to Anne Frank and her Jewish family who hid during World War II. The museum is built around their hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary.
  • Lijnbaansgracht - Excavated from 1612 onwards, this canal was named for the numerous breweries in the area during the 16th and 17th centuries. The last Amsterdam distillery of gin and liqueurs, De Ooievaar, has been located here since 1782. Most warehouses have been converted into residential houses.
  • Nieuwe Haarlemmersluis - Completed in 1602 as a lock in the sea dike around the city to prevent seawater from flowing into the canals at high tide. The old city wall originally stood here before being demolished in 1601 to expand the city westward.
