Additional Information

During the first half of the tour we will explore Amsterdam West and Westerpark. You will see and hear things you cannot find in the lonely planet. We kind of assume you have already done a boat tour or walking tour in the city center. Rather than repeating stories you have already heard, we tell stories based on our personal experience living in Amsterdam.

Next, we’ll take the ferry across the river IJ to an old industrial shipping wharf in Amsterdam North. It was abandoned in the 1980s and slowly converted into an underground hotspot for prospective local artists in the 1990s.

Today the old shipping wharf in Amsterdam North is a salute to Amsterdam’s Liberal Spirit. It is the most secret hidden gem of Amsterdam and a must-see for anyone who is interested in Amsterdam’s local art scene! We’ll check out loads of pop-up art, street art, shipping-containers-turned-artist-studios and graffiti art.

Finally, we will take the ferry back to the meeting point. Hop on and join the ride!

Pim met our curiosity with warmth and rich insight! - Private tour: Pim met our curiosity with warmth and rich insight! My family has visited Amsterdam regularly for 30 years, and we learned nuances to many things we had only superficially considered. We were 2 walkers and 2 folks who don’t like to walk so much and the pace and conversation kept us all engaged and even more enamored by the city and its people. Thank you, Pim, for a wonderful afternoon and start to our trip.
