Highlights
  • San Pedro Apostol de Andahuaylillas - Often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas,” this baroque church is located in a serene and picturesque plaza. It is renowned for its stunning artwork, featuring numerous beautiful paintings created by the Cusco Religious (Escuela Cuzqueña).
  • Tipon - Known for its intricate terraces and water channels, Tipon is believed to have been a significant ceremonial center for water worship. The town is also famous among Cusquenians for its traditional dish, “guinea pig,” which is enjoyed on weekends, either roasted in a clay oven or served on a stick.
  • Machupicchu Latin America - This is the local name of our company based in Cusco, Peru.
  • Pikillacta - The sole pre-Inca site in Cusco, this unique adobe complex was constructed by the Wari culture, which once ruled the central highlands and coastal regions of Peru. The Wari are credited with pioneering the use of agricultural terraces, and many Inca administrative practices can be traced back to them.
  • Plaza Mayor de Oropesa - On our route, we will make a brief stop in Oropesa town to sample a special and delicious large bread known as “Chuta.” Oropesa is considered the bread capital of Peru, boasting over forty bakeries that form the backbone of the town’s economy.

Off the beaten track tour. I recommend. - This was a private tour with my tour guide Alexis and our driver. I spent a beautiful day visiting all the sites mentioned this tour. Alexis was amazing and very kind. He was knowledgeable and also very spiritual. The sites like Tipon, Pikillacta, and the Andahuaylillas Church were beautiful too. This tour is basically off the beaten track and is nice to do if you like visiting small villages and towns and see how the locals live. I enjoyed this tour.

The best guides in Peru - I just wanted to leave a quick review of the tour that my partner and I took on 1 Nov, 2023. We booked the Tipon, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas South Valley Day Tour from Cusco. Our guide and driver, Luis and Luis, showed up on time and immediately Luis made us feel comfortable. As we drove out of Cusco and got to know a little bit about Luis, it became clear that my partner connected with him in several areas of interest. This connection was exactly what my partner needed that day. Luis was incredibly knowledgeable about the places that we visited but it was his willingness to answer questions that might have seemed a little out of the blue and his concern for my partners feelings that really stuck out to us. He turned what could have been a regular ho-hum day into a highlight of our time in Cusco. I feel that anybody who gets Luis as a guide and Luis as a driver is very lucky. He knows how to connect with the people he is guiding and how to personalize the experience to them. I wish I was a better wordsmith because I have been able to express just a small portion of how special the time with them was. Thank you to Luis and Luis.

A beautiful day beyond our expectations! - We were treated to a private tour with guide Gary and his driver. All three were great. Gary's explanations provided a good understanding of the places and their historical context. It’s an excellent visit.

A great tour, a great time! - Excellent tour from Luis and Paul. Luis was fun, knowledgable, and a great guide through the sites. He took us on a great journey through the history of each site, while mixing in some excellent knowledge of plants and wildlife. A great trip, highly recommended for a wonderful half day.

Amazing experience - Luis and Paul were fantastic! Luis was funny and easy to talk to- also he was so knowledgeable and had so much to share about all the places we went. He not only provided us with social and historical context, he also took the time to learn what we were most interested in (plants and birds) and tailored the tour to our interests. Our driver, Paul got us quickly and safely around. Highly recommend them!

A must. - Everyone should add this tour to a trip to Peru. Pikillacta is almost as impressive as Machupicchu and if and when it is completely excavated may rival it - see it before the crowds move in. Tipon and San Pedro Apostol de Andahuaylillas are both beautiful and peaceful. Our guide (Michael) is well-informed and entertaining and our driver (Franklin) is competent and friendly. Please do not miss.

Brilliant! - A really enjoyable tour. Our driver, Jordi and guide Gary, were excellent. Picked us up at our hotel right on time. Explained where we were going throughout the tour. Gary is a very knowledgeable guy, able to answer all our questions. Gave us plenty of time at each location to view on our own and take pictures. They even stopped at a popular bakery on the way back and bought some bread for us to try. There were only two of us so the trip was a very personal tour and got dropped off back at our hotel. Wonderful and great value for money.
