Fantastic Day - Our family had a wonderful day! We loved learning all about olives and touring the olive oil mills. Dimitra was super engaging - even our 11 and 13 year old kids were into it. Our favorite part was the olive oil tasting and the delicious Greek meal made with fresh, local ingredients. This tour was a highlight of our vacation!

Dive into the Art of Olive Oil: A Must-Do Experience in Greece! - Our experience with The Olive Routes was much more than just an introduction to cooking with olive oil; it was a full immersion into a family tradition passionately shared by our host, Dimitra. From the very beginning, Dimitra radiated positive energy and a zest for life, deeply rooted in her family’s love for olive oil, which was evident in every aspect of our visit. We were fortunate to be accompanied by Georgia, an exceptional restaurateur, during the recipe preparation. Her kindness and patience made the learning process both enjoyable and enriching. Georgia shared her culinary expertise and chef's tips with us, and we had the privilege of tasting her specialty pork dish, a delicious treat that alone was worth the experience. Athanasia, the third guide, also welcomed us warmly and was always attentive to our needs, with a constant effort to make everyone feel comfortable, especially the children and teenagers in our group. A big thank you to her for her patience and for capturing wonderful photos throughout the culinary experience—memories that our family will cherish forever. The field visit was a true moment of immersion and inclusion. Dimitra skillfully made this part of the experience fun and participative, providing us with valuable tips on olive cultivation, including pruning and harvesting techniques. Each piece of advice was an invitation to better understand and respect olive culture. The olive oil tasting was an experience akin to a wine-tasting initiation. Dimitra, with her expertise as a certified professional taster, guided us through every step, explaining the mechanics of tasting and enriching our vocabulary. This interactive session created a great dynamic among the participants, making the experience even more memorable. Finally, the visit to the processing plant was both interesting and accessible. Dimitra managed to engage even the youngest participants with clear explanations and simple parallels to everyday life, making the technical aspects understandable and participative for everyone. Although we couldn’t take home as many products as we would have liked, the gift boxes we will have shipped for the holidays will be the perfect way to extend this experience and share it with our loved ones, all while ensuring the products are enjoyed within their optimal consumption dates. In summary, this day was a true sensory and educational journey, driven by the passion and professionalism of Dimitra, Georgia, and Athanasia. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to discover the secrets of olive oil in an authentic and warm setting.

Don’t miss this tour! - Amazing experience! If you do one trip on your Peloponnes holiday, this is the one. Dimitra and her colleague were fantastic. Dimitra is extremely knowledgeable, funny, and generally a lovely person to spend 4 hours with. Her passion shines through. The tour provides insight into the history of the area, olive and olive oil production, local wine production, and of course tasting. Georgia’s Greek freshly prepared feast at the end was absolutely delicious! An all-round great experience and one that I would absolutely recommend.

a highlight of our trip! Great food, view, and overall experience - I can't say enough good things about our experience. We chose the cooking/tour/tasting experience. I'd highly recommend this. We got a chance to learn authentic recipes from Georgia, who owns a tavern in the town. The food was delicious and we took away some recipes we'll try back home. The tour itself was down to earth, interesting, engaging, and informative. The tasting was also eye-opening. Dimitra, who ran the experience, was great. She also had another host with her whose name I forgot, unfortunately. They were both engaging, personable, and fun. The tour was informative, interactive, at a good pace. The views from the castle area were also beautiful. We left with a new appreciation for the region, food, and olives/olive oil. We would highly recommend this experience. At the end we got to buy some delicious product at reasonable prices too. This was one of the highlights of the 2 week trip to Greece!

An insightful and delicious experience - Dmitria (the host and guide) is engaging, passionate, and funny. The views from the castle are breathtaking, some of the best in the region. The information both about history, the trees and olives, and the olive oil process, is so interesting that I found myself taking notes. The olive oil tasting was informative and eye opening. The lunch was so delicious that I find myself daydreaming about a cookbook from the woman who made the dishes. This tour was truly something amazing. I begged my husband, a Greek man with a culinary degree, to go on this tour as we were planning our trip. Begrudgingly, he obliged, but seemed a little hesitant. I think of the two of us, he enjoyed it the most, which is saying something because I loved it. This tour truly had something for everyone, and I am so happy we went. In fact, we'll likely do it again the next time we're in the region.

A must see! Totally book this tour! - What an experience! I went with my husband as we were visiting Kalamata in April and I read such great reviews and honestly, the reviews don’t do it justice. The history and the views were next level. Our tour guide, Athanasia, made the whole experience one to remember. Her wit, charm, and knowledge blew us away! She was great with taking photos and also super patient as my husband and I took a few too many haha. The food was incredible from Georgia, I’m still drooling over it. I already recommended this tour to another couple who are literally taking a detour to do this. Highly recommend. 5* !!

Excellent Olive Oil tour - Extremely fun tour with passionate people. Received a lot of information and had a nice walk. It is nice to see that the production of olive oil in a traditional way goes from generation to generation and is thus preserved. Then a fantastic lunch and beautiful products were taken home. A great day!
