Embark on a round-trip hike through the heart of the Lefka Ori massif, known as the ‘white mountains’ in Greek due to the reflection of the Greek sun on the limestone. This massif is the largest mountain range on the island of Crete.
Experience the stark and barren terrain of the mountain, featuring striking peaks that tower 2,000 meters above sea level. You’ll also be rewarded with stunning views into the mountain range and lookouts over the Libyan Sea and Gavdos - Europe’s southernmost island.
Plan for around 6 hours of hiking (excluding rest stops) and be prepared for strenuous activity - it’s a tough challenge that requires good physical fitness.
It’s worth noting that the journey to the trailhead from the final village can be rough and requires a vehicle built for off-roading.
