Wonderful experience in my life! - I bet it was one of the most fantastic experiences that I’ve ever had! The guide is very professional and they are very responsive to our need and everything. The day before departure, we had a meeting and they told us everything. And during the whole process, they take good care of every one. We can hike and follow our own pace. Their camp and cabins are also very well located. We can see Fuego erupt clearly and there is no wind and good temperature on camp. It’s not a easy hike, but the view worth it, and all the staff are considerate and helpful. Really enjoyed it!

Worth every step - This hike is no joke. I was skeptical but this hike humbled me! It is worth every step though. Make sure to borrow their gear if you don’t have any (the gear is great quality) and hydrate!! The food was great, the staff was amazing, the whole hike was worth it. The cabins are super comfy and cool with the windows facing the volcano. I didn’t make it to fuego or the summit (the altitude is high so make sure to listen to your body), but my partner made it to both and said it was the coolest views.

Good guides. Good beds. Good food. - This is an unforgettable experience. The hike is tough and the guides did an excellent job at motivating and supporting all our group members, ranging from seasoned hikers to less experienced adventurers. We started our hike in the clouds but it cleared up and we had amazing views from 3pm onwards. The views are unreal. The huts you'll sleep in have excellent views of Fuego, the active volcano, and good sleeping mats and sleeping bags. The food is awesome and the portions are big! The guides were also great at making sure everyone stayed safe, went the right way and didn't get mixed up with other groups. The gear that's free to use is super decent and sets everyone up for a good time. I highly recommend OX as your operator for this Guatemalan must-do activity.

Truly the best - What an experience! There are many companies to choose for the Acatenango experience but OX is the absolute BEST! Organization, price and safety were perfect! Crew is top notch, every member was very aware and cooperative to the group. Special thanks to Miguel, Sergio and Misael, who help us and didn't left us alone hiking to the summit 💜. 100% recommended

Once-in-a-lifetime experience (though you’ll want to do it again) - The whole excursion is explained to you the day before, and all the gear required is provided by Ox Adventures, with safety as a top priority. On d-day, Ali (our guide) coordinated everything to ensure no one was left behind and that we all climbed as a group. Ali and the local guides were very professional, friendly, and flexible, adjusting to everyone’s abilities. Everything is reexplained during the hike, with different options available. You will not feel pressured to do all the hikes if you do not want to, and the view from basecamp is already 100x worth the effort of the climb. Thanks, Ali, for the guidance and the amazing memories! I want to do it again!

Best Way to Experience a Volcano - We enjoyed the rigorous elevation hike. It was difficult but we managed with guidance from Ali, our tour leader, local guides, porters, and inspiration from our fellow hikers. The highlight was the volcano which entertained us throughout our stay with loud explosions and glowing streams of lava. Trip was well organized. Food and camp was also very nice.

Epic Adventure! - Epic adventure!!! Very steep and very dusty, but you’ll be in good hands. Worth every penny and there are plenty of scaling options if you find yourself sick. SO GREAT!

Great hike! - A very good experience! We would recommend going some time between Jan-March to get clearer views as it was quite cloudy when we went in May. A tough hike but doable! To make it easier we got walking sticks and a porter for our bag, which we would highly recommend! Also it is so dusty, so we bought buffs at the first stop - again, would definitely recommend. We did just fine in tennis shoes (but would recommend tall socks). On the first day you can pretty much take your time getting up. The guides were nice and helpful, but less patient going to the summit in the morning, which was the hardest part of the hike (plus it’s 4am and you were up all night watching the volcano). Some people got elevation sickness so be prepared with some medicine and definitely take the warm weather gear they let you borrow!

OX Expeditions are pros. - OX expedition makes sure you are prepared for this hike. Their expert team was personable, friendly and seemed to have fun. I would highly recommend this group to anyone wanting to hike Acatanego. Tip- get the porter both ways.

Good. Steady pace. - The sky cleared up for us and it was a great trip. Food was provided and good gear provided for the range of weather conditions. The hike was vertical most of the way up with 2 stops to purchase snacks and drinks, and 2 check points where park fees are required. We were able to see the volcano which was a bonus. Apparently in rainy season that’s not common so I recommend doing this in the in season. Overall good, the group was great, though variable fitness levels.
