Best experience ever - Such an amazing experience! The hike wasn’t as bad as I expected, and I rented a horse just in case. The tour company was very cooperative and willing to help me reach the airport in time. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone :)

Amazing Experience! - The hike up Pacaya Volcano was AMAZING! We highly recommend requesting Ari as your guide. She is knowledgeable about the community, the environment and the history of eruptions in Guatemala. Picaya is not an easy hike although many sites say it is a simple trek. Be prepared! Takes snacks, water, and a rain jacket. Ari is super friendly and a lot of fun. She is patient and will take breaks if you need them. If you can book a private tour it is a must! You can go at your own pace and receive individual attention. It is worth the extra money. Thank you Ari for a wonderful experience!!!

Great volcano excursion in the afternoon - At the beginning of August I was on the Pacaya with my daughters (12 and 14 years old). Her big wish was for us to ride horses. That's why I booked the tour through this homepage. At the bottom of the page is an address in Antigua. There was a travel agency there, but not the one from this homepage. The lady was very friendly and advised me to book the trip via the phone number. That's what I did. This would not have been possible without reasonably good Spanish. The man on the phone was super nice and helpful and we then made the booking via WhatsApp (in Spanish). I thought it was very cool that I could pay by Paypal. He sent me a request that I had to confirm. We were then picked up on the doorstep. However, it would have been no problem to just book the tour without horses and then pay locally for 300Q a horse. The horses were well nourished, so I didn't feel bad about my European weight either. Upstairs we had a short downpour (it is also rainy season). We were really impressed by the volcano and the rock formations. Unfortunately, there was no lava to see. But we could eat warmed marshmallows (they are only available with gelatin - for all vegetarians). My children loved riding. Each horse was accompanied by a local and also led by people with less safe riding skills. It was a really great trip and we were lucky with the weather because on the descent we had a wonderful view of the three volcanoes Augua, Fuego and Acatanango.
