Highlights
  • Argostoli, the capital of the Kefallonia Region since 1757, serves as the island’s commercial and administrative hub. It’s adorned with charming neo-classical structures. This modern city boasts an exceptional historic and cultural heritage. Constructed in an amphitheater-style arrangement overlooking the Lagoon of Koutavos, Argostoli provides views of the fir tree-clad Aenos. Witness the rare phenomenon at Katavothres where massive amounts of seawater infiltrate the land at Agii Theodori in Lassi and re-emerge near the village of Karavomylos, close to Sami.
  • PHOTO STOP ONLY: Myrtos beach, reputed as the most breathtaking beach on the island and one of Europe’s finest, features pristine-white sands surrounded by towering cliffs. This earthly paradise’s sea presents mesmerizing hues that range from turquoise to deep blue.
  • PHOTO STOP ONLY: Assos, built in a circular arrangement around the peninsula, is adorned with lush greenery. The village’s authentic traditional Ionian architecture and verdant tall pines and cypress trees merging with the Ionian sea’s blue waters paint a picture-perfect landscape.
  • Next, we arrive at the quaint village of Agia Efimia. This peaceful town, characterized by broad streets and well-planned urban design, houses a port that attracts a multitude of yachts worldwide during the summer season.
  • Experience the majestic cave of the nymph Melissani and the ancient Greek God Panas. The Melissani lake cave, present on Kefalonia since the time of mythology, was first explored in 1951. An overhead opening created by an earthquake allows limited sunlight to enter, illuminating the blue and turquoise waters in a breathtaking display. Inside the lake cave, a boat tour unveils the small island where ancient ceremonies were conducted in honor of God Panas and the nymphs.
  • The Drogarati cave, aged over 100 million years, showcases impressive rock formations that grow approximately 1 cm every 100 years.
  • Antisamos beach, famed from the movie “The Captain Corelli’s Mandolin,” unveils the enchanting landscape of Kefalonia. The journey traverses the island’s lush green areas, dominated by tall pines. There will be an opportunity to stop for photographs. The beach itself, a mix of pebbles and white sand, is nestled amid green hills.

The azure-crystal waters coupled with a snack bar, sun loungers, umbrellas, and water sports facilities make it a perfect holiday spot. The beach has consistently won the distinction of a blue flag.

  • Visit the holy Monastery of St. Gerasimos in the ‘Omala’ valley. Twice a year, thousands of believers flock here to venerate Saint Gerasimos’s relic and offer prayers.
  • Explore the Robola Wine Cooperative of Kefalonia in “Omala” valley. The winery houses the Museum of Robola, where you can sample wines at no cost and purchase from a broad selection.
  • At the tour’s conclusion, you will be dropped off at your initial pick-up location.

The best way to end the cruise. - We had great time on this excursion. There were 11 of us including little kid, teenagers, two couples and a grandma; and everyone had a great time. The tour guide was very knowledgable and patient with all of us. She knew exactly when to go where to avoid the lines as much as possible. We enjoyed the tour, and everyone agreed it was the highlight of our vacation.
