Highlights
  • Trinidad and Tobago - Prepare to be enchanted by a realm of profound beauty and simplicity. Nestled at the base of Trinidad’s tallest peak, El Cerro Del Aripo, which stands at 3,085 feet, is the quaint mountain hamlet of Aripo, home to fewer than 1,000 souls.

Within Aripo, you’ll discover a six-foot waterfall of turquoise brilliance, teeming with life due to its seemingly infinite depth. Beyond the vibrant blue cascade, the Aripo River also offers a gentle brook beneath the forest’s verdant canopy.

The journey begins on Aripo Road, with a brief but steep 5-15 minute descent through the lush rainforest cover. Upon reaching the Aripo River, adventurers can plunge into the crystalline turquoise depths and mingle with the small, bold freshwater fish.

This excursion is considered a 2 out of 10 in difficulty (Steep downhill). Trekkers will navigate the stony forest path until they encounter the Waterfall.

Best waterfall experience ever! - Awesome! The falls and surroundings are beautiful - well worth the trail to the river, which is short, but very steep with roots, rocks, and loose debris (you’ve been warned). Most of the day, it was just our small tour group. There are shallow pools to relax and deep pools where you can jump off the surrounding rocks (so much fun…even grandma got in on the action). The guides are awesome. A truly custom experience.

Trinidad experience - The guides were very friendly & helpful. The terrain to waterfall is very tough for the unfit. 😂. Very picturesque

Great experience for the able-bodied - Great experience. Our guides Raiza and Gavin were great. Gavin helped one of our older members up/down the trail ascent/descent. Raiza made sure our younger members were safe while jumping from the falls. The falls were beautiful - refreshing spring water and picturesque views. After the falls they even took us into Port of Spain to pick up soup and doubles before dropping us at the hotel. Would 10/10 do it again. Fair warning: the 'short trek' to access the waterfall could be difficult for young kids and older adults. A fair amount of maneuvering on large stones and steep gradients at times. YMMV. Make sure to bring bug spray (but that's a given anytime you're in the bush)

The waterfall is beautiful, but beware the path getting there - I cannot stress enough that the “easy” hiking trail is roughly a 40 degree decline along a narrow, steep, and treacherous path. I would caution anyone who is interested in this tour to make sure you are physically fit enough to traverse the trail. The waterfall itself is pretty, and the water is very refreshing. The difficulty of the trek to get there really dampened the experience.
