Serengeti Safari: Explore Ngorongoro and Manyara

This is one of our most popular tours as it allows you to spend a very reasonable amount of time in the Serengeti (2 nights). You’ll still have the chance of exploring Ngorongoro and Manyara or Tarangire National Parks. You can either do the tour by land (circle itinerary) or fly back from the Serengeti to remove the backtracking

Highlights

Arusha to Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park - Pick up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and depart for Lake Manyara National Park with a picnic lunch for a full day game drive. As you enter the national park, lush forests of Acacia and Mahogany trees begin to set the mood for what is waiting ahead. The game drive will go on till evening with a small break for picnic lunch. During the game drive watch out for buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, baboons and the blue monkeys. Another spectacle of Lake Manyara National park is the tree climbing lions, however spotting them is a game of luck. In the right season, you can see the shoreline turning pink with millions of flamingos flocking there. Post the game drive, you will head back to your camp/lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you

Lake Manyara to Central Serengeti

Serengeti National Park - After breakfast we head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa - the Serengeti National Park - with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

Serengeti Full Game Drive

Serengeti National Park - Serengeti Park is the most famous park of all Africa, more than 15,000 squared kilometers of savannah full of lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants and many other wild animals.

Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro

Ngorongoro Crater - After an early breakfast, descend to the crater floor for game drive(5 hours). You can expect to see lions, elephants, Zebras, Hippos, Flamingos, Jackals, Rhinos Antelopes and many birds. The birds seen here include eagle, vulture, and flamingos in the Crater Lake, stork, bats, giant vulture, sacred ibis, kori bustard, blacksmith plover, long necked heron and the cattle eagle. Post the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, you will begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater. With a 2hr drive left to your accommodation in Karatu, the day will come to a close. Freshly made delicious dinner is kept ready for you at your chosen accommodation. All these days of the safari, will have you quite tired and a good rest is essential. The next day you will begin the last leg of your safari.

Tarangire to Arusha

Tarangire National Park - The final day of your safari will begin as usual by 8:00 AM after a luscious breakfast. The destination for today is Arusha to Tarangire National Park where you will have a half day game drive. Tanzania’s third largest National park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra. By mid afternoon, you will branch out and head towards Arusha where you will be dropped off to your preferred location by about 6PM in the evening. With an incredible experience and loads of memories to cherish, this is the time you bid goodbye to your team.

Spectacular safari adventure - This was the trip of a lifetime. We traveled thru wild Africa among the most amazing animals. We saw -many up close- wildebeest, zebra, cheetah, antelopes, hippos, alligators, hyenas, lions (such adorable cubs!), rhinos, elephants, giraffes, mongoose, ostriches, baboons, monkeys, flamingos, warthogs…. Oh, the thrill and beauty of being among the Baobab and Umbrella trees watching the mammals and birds in their natural habitat. Our thoughtful guide was vigilant in spotting even the shyest creatures. He was extremely knowledgeable about all we saw. He helped us capture the perfect pictures/videos. He accommodated every need to make our trip rewarding and comfortable. We visited three tribes during our week. We met the villagers who live in/near the Serengeti and learned about their lives, we even followed some on a hunt. That was thrilling! 😊

BEST VACATION EVER! - Fransisco organized a private safari for our family of 7 (5 children aged 2-12) to Tarangire NP, Ngorongoro, Serengeti NP, with a follow-on stay in Zanzibar. This was the most phenomenal experience we could imagine!! From the onset of planning the trip he was responsive and listened to our many requests. To an easy arrival/airport pickup and transport in his Land Cruiser with plenty of snacks and drinks that he kept replenished throughout. To safari—Francisco knew how to set the days accordingly to allow optimal viewing of wildlife and plenty of R&R for the kids at each of our lodges’ pools. He always knew where to find the wildlife and was extremely knowledgeable as a modern Masai; teaching us culture and answered all the animal questions we could think of. He selected accommodations in the Serena line which proved perfect for hospitality, food, family friendliness and stunning beauty! The Zanzibar extension was the perfect conclusion to our African experience and left us refreshed and ready to return to the real-world. There are many big agency tours available for Tanzania safari, but you will benefit more from the personal attention of Lappet Faced Safaris. We could not be happier with our dream vacation and wouldn’t entrust anyone else!

Outstanding Experience - I fell in love with Africa as a teenager. Fifty years later I took my first trip which was managed beautifully by Lappet Faced Safaris. Francisco, CEO, was exceptionally responsive to our requests. We told him what we wanted to see, gave him a budget, and he designed the perfect trip. He was very responsive to questions, and happy to do any tweaking we needed to do in order to fit our schedule. He provided us with the perfect guide. I am not overstating. Our guide Michael was extremely skilled, very knowledgeable, and lots of fun! After we all loosened up, we laughed our way across Tanzania. We tried to stay in tented camps for the most part, which was a good choice for us. If you want to hear animals at night, and enhance your experience, this is the way to go. I never once felt unsafe. We are traveling with Lappet Faced Safaris again in August 2021, going back to see more of Tanzania. In 2022 Lappet Faced Safaris will take us to Kenya. I would let Lappet Faced Safaris take me anywhere!

Beyond our expectations and big thanks to our guide Naftal - My wife and I did a 6 day safari organized through Lappet Faced Safari and we still talk about how wonderful it was, 5 months on. The choice of accommodation and standard of food throughout was excellent but it was thanks to our guide Nafatal who made our experience so much more. Naftal is an impeccable driver with a fun sense of humour but he always seemed to go that extra mile for us. On one occasion whilst driving, we heard the trumpeting of elephants from behind the thick wall of jungle in the distance. Two other vehicles from another company in front of us sped on in the hope of seeing them but Naftal had a different idea, turned the vehicle around and waited. Sure enough, a huge number of elephants came running past (from a safe distance) and we were able to drive along side of them. When most other drivers would take their groups to a busy picnic spot with other tour groups, Naftal would find a peaceful spot just for ourselves and on one occasion we were surrounded by zebras whilst eating our packed lunch. With his knowledge, we now have some wonderful photos of the big 5 and so much more to keep as memories and we still keep in touch via social media.
