Highlights
  • Al Shahaniya Racetrack - The Al Sheehaniyah Camel Racetrack is located in Qatar and is known for hosting camel racing events. It is one of the prominent venues for this traditional sport in the region, attracting spectators and participants. Camel racing is a popular cultural activity in Qatar, and these racetracks play a significant role in preserving and promoting this traditional sport.
  • THE RICHARD SERRA SCULPTURE منحوتة ريتشارد سيرّا - This breathtaking sculpture in the Brouq nature reserve spans over a kilometer and comprises four steel plates, each over fourteen meters in height. To guarantee perfect alignment, Serra examined the topography of the land and beautifully enhanced the vast, desolate space in the heart of the desert. The result is spectacular and although contemporary, timeless.
  • Zekreet Rock Formation - Discover the natural beauty of the desert and the arid wilderness at Zekreet. Dominated by unique mushroom-like limestone rock formations, the area has an otherworldly feel. One of Qatar’s most popular locations, the limestone formations appear as an umbrella of white chalk and offer a mountain of Instagram-friendly snaps. Strong winds blowing away softer sedimentary rock exposing harder limestone cliffs have created the jaw-dropping formations.

On the west coast, you’ll find Zekreet, a UNESCO-recognized Biosphere Reserve located just 80 km from central Doha. Zekreet boasts large escarpments and limestone formations sculpted by strong winds and erosion over the years. Upon arrival, you’ll encounter some of the most unique and picturesque desert landscapes. Witness the umbrella rock formations where the Arabian Sea meets the limestone rocks. Just north of Doha, nestled among the limestone formations outside Zekreet, is Richard Serra’s East-West/West-East sculpture installation. This artwork consists of four steel plates, each over 14 meters high, spanning over 1 km, and offers stunning views of both sunrise and sunset.
