Highlights

DAY 1: EMBARK IN ASWAN | MAJESTIC PHILAE

Temple of Philae - Arrive at Aswan Airport, where your Journey to Egypt Tour Guide will meet you at the exit door, holding a sign with your name. Begin your exploration by visiting the magnificent Temple of Philae. Take a motorized boat to the island of Agilika. This sacred site, dedicated to the goddess Isis, showcases a blend of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman civilizations. The temple was carefully dismantled and reassembled when the Aswan High Dam was built. Continue to the granite quarries to see the Unfinished Obelisk, a testament to the skills of ancient Egyptian stonemasons, standing one-third taller than any other ancient Egyptian obelisk. Then, board your Nile cruise boat and enjoy lunch. Later, experience a local felucca ride around the Aswan Islands while enjoying a refreshing Scenic Sundowner.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

DAY 2: OPTIONAL ABU SIMBEL | CRUISING THE NILE

Temple of Kom Ombo - Early morning, you have the option to visit the Abu Simbel Temples from Aswan by car (a 3.5-hour drive each way). Discover the impressive twin temples of Ramses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari. The façade of Ramses II’s temple is dominated by four 70-foot-tall statues of the pharaoh. This entire site was relocated to save it from the floodwaters caused by the Aswan High Dam.

Cruise to Kom Ombo. Disembark at Kom Ombo (Hill of Gold) to visit the Greco-Roman temple dedicated to Haroeris (the sun god) and Sobek (the crocodile god), whom some ancient Egyptians believed to be the creator of the world. See the mummified remains of several crocodiles that once basked along the ancient Nile shore. Back on board, cruise to Edfu.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 3: TEMPLE OF HORUS | CRUISING THE NILE

Temple of Karnak - Today, visit the Temple of Horus, the falcon-headed god of the sky. Built in 230 BC by Ptolemy III, this well-preserved and colorful structure offers a glimpse into ancient Egyptian temple worship. Back on board, cruise to Luxor.

Arrive in Luxor and journey to the east bank of the Nile to visit the Temple of Karnak, where generations of pharaohs recorded their names. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall, with its expertly aligned columns soaring 80 feet high. Continue to the impressive Temple of Luxor. See the three large statues of Ramses II at the temple’s entrance, the Courtyard of Ramses II, and the Colonnade of Amenhotep III with its 50-foot-high columns. Walk in their shadows as visitors have done since ancient times and marvel at the engineering feats required to create them.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 4: DISEMBARK IN LUXOR | VALLEY OF THE KINGS

Valley of the Kings - This morning, explore the west bank of the Nile River and the Necropolis of Thebes, and see the Colossi of Memnon. Next, visit the architecturally stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, ancient Egypt’s first female pharaoh and one of its most successful rulers. Continue to the Valley of the Kings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and burial ground of the pharaohs. For 500 years starting in the 16th century BC, tombs were built in this valley for pharaohs and nobles, including the tomb of Tutankhamun. Enter the tomb of Tutankhamun (extra ticket required) to uncover the secrets of this storied chamber, discovered in 1922 by British archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter.

Great Cruise package through Journey to Egypt. - It was an excellent cruise. The staff on the ship were almost unbelievably good natured and helpful. Though we spent a lot of time in port on tours, there was something almost magical and indescribable about cruising on the Nile River. The tours themselves were incredible. We saw numerous sites and each one was unique in its character and history. The guides we had: Noel, Muhammad and John were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Journey to Egypt were in contact with us the entire time, even well before the cruise so you never felt out of the information loop. Finally, we had a hiccup or two on the trip concerning cancellations and refunds. The people at Journey To Egypt responded immediately and resolved the problem satisfactorily. Overall, I would whole heartedly recommend Journey to Egypt and 100% would use them again.

Egypt was wonderful! - The trip was as advertised and the many temples were magnificent. The ship was comfortable and plenty of food choices at the daily buffets, you won’t go hungry. All staff on board were personable, polite and tentative, including Romney and Peter in the restaurant. Loved the whirling durbishes entertainment on board. It was hot, however, the tours to the temples were all scheduled in the early hours of the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the hot sun. Our tour guide, Mena, was well educated on the Egyptian History, He did a good job at covering all the history of the temples. Highly recommend this tour and boat. La Fayan.

Overall a Well-done Job - They don’t explain the process so well beforehand, so we were somewhat surprised that we had our own tour guide with us for the entire trip, from airport pick-up in Aswan to airport drop-off in Luxor. This is great, but isolating as you eat at a designated table in the restaurant and have private transport at your sites. (guide is also on the cruise, but eats separately). We didn’t meet anyone on the cruise with about 85 people aboard. Another surprise is that there is a caravan of cruise boats that all travel together to each site and tours are done all together - making it a bit hectic at times. The touts are annoying (all over Egypt), but you just have to deal with it. My advice is to read up on Egypt scams before you arrive. The best part of the trip was having our guide, Mena. Request him specifically! He is so knowledgeable and passionate about Egyptian history - you’ll learn a lot. He has a wonderful demeanor and couldn’t do enough for us. He was also always ready with advice to keep us out of trouble. Note that we picked a higher-priced version. Be careful as we saw some cruise boats that were scary! And take the Abu Simbel option - you’ll lose some sleep, but well worth it! Overall, very much worth the price.

Aswan to Luxor - Bucket List Trip - Enjoyed a 4 day Nile cruise in Apr/May departing from Aswan to Luxor including. It’s simply unappreciable the history and sights you get an opportunity to experience 3000-4000 years of Egyptian history. Each location seemed to surpass the last, Abu Simbal is a very special place and despite the journey to reach it is well worth it. Each day brings an awe inspiring temple or tomb whose age is only matched by the beauty of the artwork, architecture and engineering on display. The trip was well organised throughout from airport pickup to departure, high quality transport throughout. The cruise was very enjoyable with a nice balance of cruising and sight seeing. A special thank you to our guide John who made the trip sharing his knowledge and passion has Egyptian history and culture throughout.

Wonderful experience, highly recommended! - We did the three day cruise from Aswan to Luxor. It was an unforgettable experience and we couldn’t be happier. Everything was great (the comfort of the cruise ship, the food, the itinerary). Journey to Egypt is a professional company and takes good care of its customers. Our tour guide, John, was fantastic from start to finish. He is very knowledgeable and friendly, but also relaxed and easy to get along with. For each site he gave a good explanation of the context (perfect for people with little knowledge about Ancient Egypt). He showed us the highlights of each site and answered all our questions. I highly recommend him as a guide (he is very experienced). It is completely safe to do a Nile cruise (we went in May 2024) and you will have an amazing time!

Unforgettable cruise on the Nile: extraordinary experience among breathtaking landscapes and ancient culture! - Nile cruise is an unmissable experience in life. The ship was splendid and the staff were always helpful and kind. The landscapes are breathtaking and the navigation very relaxing. Journey to Egypt organized the tour down to the smallest detail, offering the best of the itinerary in just three days. The temples visited were stupendous and the tour well structured, with relaxing breaks and visits to typical artisan factories. Luxor is a beautiful city, especially the local market. The guide, John, was exceptional: knowledgeable and passionate, with attention to detail. The felucca ride in Aswan was also beautiful. I must also say that, contrary to what one might think at this particular moment, we have always felt safe and Egypt is a reality far from any existing conflict. Super recommended!

Nile River Cruise - The Tour guide JOHN was excellent, explaining everything and answering all questions with knowledge. Egypt right now appears to be quite safe to travel. We were lucky enough to be upgraded on our tour boat from 5 star to 5 star plus and the vessel MS BLUESHADOW 1 was very comfortable and meals very good but we had problems staying connected to their internet even though we had paid the top rate.

Great experience - Boat was nice, sun deck was fully equipped. The guide (John) was really professional, knowledgeable and helpful. The temples are amazing, very impressive. Even though we had to wake up early, the schedule was well organised, not too packed. The cabin was quite small for 3 people because it was a twin cabin with an extra bed.

Very successful, enjoyable and fulfilling time for our visit to Lower Egypt - The cruise was a pleasure - the boat Blue Shadow 1 was 5 star and the MD of Journey to Egypt had upgraded us from a 4 star to 5 star. The excellent staff, facilities and food were of excellent standard. It might have been a bonus to have access to a general area for teas and coffee making facilities and easier internet access. I was more significantly impressed by our tour guide from Journey to Egypt - John - whose extensive knowledge of Egypt was as a result of his degree in Egyptology. He was able and keen to answer quite extensive questions beyond the information 0provided and significantly more than one might expect about the time available and the tours of the Temples and Tombs we visited. Further , John made arrangement of transport and the access to sites absolutely seamless . He made sure we arrived at sites early and arranged the tours so that we had the least crowds possible to view the sites. His reminder that even 5 minutes at the early part of the day could make a big difference which we came to realise really could make a difference to the numbers of other people attending g the sites. He went further by assisting us to arrange tours & transport for additional family after the tours we had arranged. A very highly expert tour guide! Thank you John for making this tour and cruise so successful and such a pleasure.
