Highlights
  • Aswan High Dam - Start your day tour in Aswan by getting picked up from your hotel or cruise ship and drive to the High Dam of Aswan, an engineering miracle when it was built in the 1960s. From the top of the High Dam you can gaze across Lake Nasser to the Kalabsha temple in the south and the huge power station to the north.
  • Unfinished Obelisk - Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk in the granite quarries of Aswan, where much of the red granite used for ancient temples and colossi came from. The Unfinished Obelisk still lies where it was carved when a crack was discovered as it was being hewn from the rock. Your qualified Egyptologist guide will explain how the 1 ton obelisk was carved, and why the crack caused it to be abandoned.
  • Temple of Philae - The last of the 3 famous Aswan sites you will see is generally regarded as the best. Philae Temple was carefully moved to its current location (around 500 meters from the original site) when the construction of the High Dam caused surrounding Nile waters to rise. A short motorboat ride takes you to the island, where your guide will take you on a walking tour through the temple before allowing you free time to explore further on your own.

Dedicated to the goddess Isis, Philae Temple has a beautiful setting on an island in the river which has been landscaped to match its original site.

  • Aswan - After finishing your tour, you’ll be dropped off your hotel or Nile cruise in Aswan.

Highly recommended Tour in Aswan - Highly recommended tour to visit all the main sites in Aswan. But more importantly our guide Aida wad simply fabulous taking time to explain all history of the monuments and sites. Aida gave us plenty of free time to explore by ourselves and take pictures. Transportation was on time and well arranged throughout the whole Tour! You will not be disappointed by booking this Tour. X&D

Excellent, professional, informative tour - Michael is an excellent, knowledgeable guide who speaks impeccable English and led us on a relaxed, stress-free tour of the Philae Temple and Unfinished Obelisk. He did a great job explaining the deeper meanings of the artwork inside the temple, and walked us through the history very well. Aswan is a calm, peaceful oasis by the Nile that's full of fascinating history. I highly recommend you have Michael take you around the sights.

Lovely half day excursion - Philae temple is magnificent and the boat ride to the temple made it all the more special. - Originally booked for two but my husband was I’ll so I went alone. Aida was lovely - she provided me information, we laughed and I felt completely at ease with her. The trip was great - thank you. Aida, I wish you well.

Aswan Highlights at a Relaxed Pace - This tour is fantastic, especially with Asmaa as our guide. At a relaxed pace, we visited the Unfinished Obelisk, the High Dam, and the Philae Temple. Asmaa answered all of our questions, gave good information, and allowed us free time to wander and take photos. I highly recommend this private tour.

Wonderful, clean way to spend a morning in Aswan. - Excellent!! Our tour Guide, Madgy, (or “Big Mac”) was warm, welcoming and considerate of any particular needs during the tour. Both and Egyptologist(knowledgeable) and a professional tour guide(kept us out of being hassled) was great on the 5-6 hour tour. Well paced tour, clean car, good conversation(his English is excellent). Optional spice and oils shops are nice if you have time, but only if you want to buy some souvenirs.

The tour was ok. - Overall the tour was ok, it was done within 4 hours as he went really fast through out the areas . High Dam is not really something to crave about as you have to pay 100 EGP just to see a dam. But for the price you pay , this is what you get . If you have short time go visit the Nubian Village and the just the Philae Temple.

Terrible experience. Many mistakes from the company - I booked a private tour with pick up from my hotel on Elephantine Island. The message was clear that there was going to be an extra charge because my hotel was on the island. I agreed with the extra fee and sent all the information requested. I specifically mentioned I was staying on the island. At 11am (the pickup time) I got a message from the tour company saying I had to cross the river by myself. No pick up. I was annoyed because I didn’t have cash on me at that time and that was the reason I requested the pick up service. Then, while I was waiting for my private car and the guide, I received a message saying another couple was going to join my tour. I mentioned I paid for the private tour so it would be fair to get a discount. They tried to say it was a bit private not fully private, but still private? The couple didn’t join me and my tour guide mentioned they were going to do the same tour later in the day. It felt like the tour guide was annoyed by that as he had to do it twice? The tour had a weird vibe, it felt like he was rushing to get it done. I ended up skipping the unfinished obelisk because he kept saying it wasn’t worthy. It was a terrible experience and I felt guilty for their own mistakes. Never again.
