Highlights
  • Aït Benhaddou - Ouarzazate is 192km from Marrakech, approximately a 3-hour drive, ideal for those wanting to visit the desert and the famous kasbah (Aït Benhaddou) in a single day. This kasbah has been the backdrop for numerous films, including Gladiator, Troy, and Kingdom of Heaven. Aït Benhaddou makes for an intriguing day trip from Marrakech, especially after crossing the High Atlas Mountains. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987, a few families still reside in Aït Benhaddou. Along the journey, you’ll marvel at the Berber villages nestled in the High Atlas Mountains. The route includes 4km of rocky off-road terrain along the salty Ounila Valley to reach the Aït Benhaddou kasbah, a natural set for many films shot in the area. Enjoy a walk and cross the dried river with our English-speaking driver/guide to get a commanding view of the kasbahs of Aït Benhaddou. You’ll be invited for tea with one of the local families. There will be free time to explore the kasbahs and have lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the Ksar. After lunch, we will proceed to Ouarzazate to visit the cinema studios and the Kasbah Taourirt, another palace of Pacha El Glaoui. In the afternoon, we will return to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka pass.

Great way to see more of Morocco - Abdul is a friendly and helpful tour guide, he made sure that everyone was comfortable and understood the days itinerary & Yossef as the driver was competent and friendly too. The tour itself was well structured and fun, and all the guides we meet along the way where as friendly and knowledgeable as Abdul.
